My self and a friend have booked flights to Toronto for 5 May 2009--- leaving from Vancouver 19 May.back to the UK --- Impluse buy but there you go! -- as we are both retiered ladys we should have thought about it ,but here we are . we are staying in Toronto for one night and we will be taking a train to Niagra Falls and staying there one night --QUESTION what is the best and CHEAPEST way to get across to vancouver with stopovers on the way.any advice please. Thank you.

Hi elaineKent; You could spend an entire week in Toronto and still have plenty to see and do ! Vancouver is approx. 2811 miles / 4383 km west of Toronto. There is cross country bus & rail service. By either mode of transportation, the ride is approximately 3 days in duration. Cross country flights are very expensive within Canada. There are only two airlines for this trip. I think Rescue Team has given you some good information to consider. One consideration is that internal flights tend to be cheaper in the US. You could look at crossing into the States south of Toronto and getting a cheap flight across to Seattle or even Bellingham. When you look at the extra costs of food, neither train nor bus save you much money over flying, but they do provide a view of the country. YOu might also look into flying Toronto - Calgary, then just going overland between Calgary and Vancouver through the mountains, either on a tour, by train or rent a car. | ||||||
