Honeymoon in Vancouver in April-where to stay |
|
My Fiance and i are planning our honeymoon in Vancouver next April, 3 nights Vancouver, 5 in Whistler to do some skiing and back to Vancouver for a further 4 nights. The tour company suggested The Sheraton Hotel Wall Centre, some of the reviews here were not great. Would love some suggestions, in or around a similiar price range as this hotel or even slightly more expensive as we plan on only one honeymoon in a lifetime!! |

There are SOOO many hotels in Vancouver that you should be able to find something that suits you. The Wall Centre is right in downtown. Personally, I'd be inclined to go for something more on the water - the Bayshore, the Pan Pacific or even the Sylvia, on English Bay, has a great location. Keep in mind, that, as a local, I don't actually stay in any of these hotels! If you like to be in the centre of things, there is also the Four Seasons, the Hyatt and of course, the Fairmont Vancouver. I think, based solely on location, I'd go for the Westin Bayshore. It's an older hotel, but I think there are some newer rooms. Also, check out the Harrison Hot Springs Resort. It's about 1.5 hrs east of the city, but a great location. I love getting out there for a quick overnight get away.

Vancouverite is right that there are soooo many good hotels that the choice is yours. I strongly strongly second the suggestion to spend a night (or two) at the Harrison Hot Springs resort. I haven't stayed overnight there, but made use of a package that gave access to all the hotsprings and spa facilities and included use of a hotel room for the day to freshen up after the pools for a great meal in the Copper Room with music and dancing.

Would you prefer to stay in a large hotel or a boutique hotel? The Wedgewood is a boutique hotel located downtown (not on the water) and is known for their service. The Bayshore is a big hotel located downtown on the water and is in a great walking neighbourhood and close to the Stanley Park Seawall.

Thank you all so much. My friend had actually stayed in the Wedgewood and we have looked at it on the web. We are thinking perhaps to stay the first 3 nights in the Wedgewood as it is so central and then stay in the Westin Bayshore for the 4 nights after skiing. They seem very different horels so the variety might be nice. Thank you all again. In case anyone has any more free time any suggestions for things we must do while there....
