Hi, I am spending 6 nights in your wonderful city in mid August and plan on doing a whale watching tour that I saw on a travel program here in Oz. Telegraph Cove is listed as the departure point...is this far from downtown Vancouver and easy to get to? Many thanks! Suz :)

Telegraph Cove is on the north end of Vancouver Island. The city of Vancouver is on the mainland. To get there, you'd have to take a ferry from Horshoe Bay (North Vancouver) to Nanaimo which takes about 1.5 hours not including time to get to the ferry and boarding time, then drive 4 hours from Nanaimo.

There are whale-watching tours from Vancouver. I haven't taken any personally, but if you do a search on previous posts you should find some recommendations.
