In Feb I will be drv'g w/my family in an RV from Mesa to Yuma to El Centro and then heading north. Can someone pls tell me if from Yuma to El Centro it is worth going into Mexico. I guess it would be rt 2 in Mexico vs. rt 8 in the US. I'm looking at this from the point of scenic drv'g, any particular stops along the route, interesting towns...

Really appreciate any info/advice. Thx.

It's only about an hour's drive. The Mexican route is, at most, 30 miles south of the U.S. route; the scenery isn't going to vary much. For an hour's drive, I wouldn't do it.

Thx for the reply, Pstreet1. So if scenery is not enough reason to do the drv in Mexico vs. the US then are any of the towns worth visiting?

I know I can do Mexicali easily enough even if drv'g the US side. But what about any of the other towns along the way if doing the drv in Mexico?

What are you looking for in Mexico. If you are looking for a tourist area Mexicali is not your place. Mexicali is spread out and really divided into sections. For instance when I lived there we went to one part of town to have the car washed and another to have the oil changed. If you are looking for an easy place to cross into Mexico to say you've been there, get a cold beer and have some tacos, then Los Algadones is for you.
