never had any trouble renting a car usually book on line thru Dollar seems to be way less expensive that way. they have shuttles that pick you up at the airport and take you to their office to get your car. seems a lot of people on the forum are using Dominic and I guess he is suppose to be a great guy with good rates...someone I am sure will pop in and tell you about him.

All the major companies are represented there. I've never counted but there must be 12 or 15 companies.

Marked exactly the same as any major US airport. All are in new condition and very clean.

All the companies have booths next to the luggage carousels. Check in at the booth as you pick up your luggage - they all speak excellent english. They will call the shuttle and it will be waiting for you outside as you exit the terminal.

We just returned from SJD. Rented with Avis, short shuttle to lot. We rented for free!! The original cost for a week was $286 but did a timeshare presentation at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach which Avis credited us $300. Avis people very friendly. There is an Avis kiosk inside the airport. Just watch out for all the folks pushing tours just outside the first door once you leave baggage claim.
