there has been a few bad things happen in cabo but with the number of people that go there it is safe for the most part. less crime than in my home town. yes there is petty crime if you leave your wallet on the beach and go swimming someone might steal it .In 12 years of going to cabo i have always felt safe and have never been a victim of crime . if you don't get falling down drunk and go to the bathroom out side a bar in your home town don't do it in cabo. if you don't run around the beach and flash you stuff don't do it in cabo. if you don't fight with the police don't do it in cabo. if you dont DRUGS in your home town don't do it in cabo i see people get off the plane and all common sence goes out the door .

And don't stand up in vehicles ;) Good point and I would also like to add, if possible - go in groups at night or at least more than one.

Thanks Sockman.

ATTENTION GIRLS always go out in pairs. like the marines never leave your buddy behind. when you leave the bars at night look at the slime balls standing out side they cant afford to go inside they are waiting for you to get drunk and fall into there arms. if you go to the bathroom take your drink with you. if you don't see them pour it don't drink it that is what i would tell my own daughter

Very good advice.

A couple of years ago, I had a key made in downtown San Lucas. The young Mexican teenager behind the counter made the key quickly and efficiently. I asked how much, and he said 10 pesos (about $1). I pulled a 10 peso coin out of my pocket and handed it to him. Unknown to me, I also pulled out a 100 peso bill that fell to the floor. I walked out of the shop and down the street. A block down the street, the young man came running after me, "Senor, senor!" He handed me the 100 peso bill. I was flabbergasted! I said, "para repartir ("for us to share"). I took the 100 peso bill and handed a 50 peso bill to him. That young man is an outstanding representative of his country, his family values, and most importantly his personal ethics.

I have other stories, but some other time.

You do have good stories, matapule. I really enjoyed the one where you said your husband tipped the mariachis 50 pesos and then they made him feel bad about the tip. We've all been there - we've had both good and bad experiences in Cabo. I think it's important that we all share our stories, good or bad. It keeps the forum real.

I feel totally safe while walking around in Cabo. I'm a New Yorker and I walk around with eyes in the back of my head. No matter what time of day or night it is I look behind me every 30 seconds (just a habit)just to see what's going on behind me.

I would have to say be on better behavior than at home. I work in an industry where I deal with 10% of the people 90% of the time. That 10% act irresponsible/poorly about 90% of the time. You get where I'm going with this. Some people just behave poorly no matter where they are. Unfortunately the repercussions are far worse if behaving badly while vacationing in a foreign country. The bad behavior by some is what has given Americans a bad reputation. I try to go out of my way to be kind, polite and responsible while on vacation and I still manage to have a great time.

What a strange comment! Why would anyone want to "leave their brains at home"? Surely that was tongue in cheek!
