We are probably going to be booking JBV for July 2009. My husband and three teenagers/young adults. I have a few questions if anyone can help.

1. Is it worth the extra $$ for the Deluxes 2 BR units?

2. What types of shopping, restaurants, things to do are in the immediate walking area and 20 minuite driving?

3. We do not want to do AI but we like to have drinks at pool or beach. What is within short(a few minutes) walking distance to get frozen drinks or light lunch that we could bring back to pool or beach?

4. Is the shopping in town good? We like to look for jewelry or something nice to bring back with us to put in our house, nothing real touristy.

5. Things to do at night? Shows? Music?

6. If we choose not to eat breakfast in our unit any place close walking or short drive for regular breakfast like pancakes, eggs, bacon etc??

7. Overall thoughts on the Suites??

Thanks, Jen

Sorry, just thought of a few more questions:

Are beach towles available?

Read there is construction going on should be finished Sept 2008? Finished? Still going on?

Does anyone know if there are TV's in both bedrooms of 2BR deluxe rooms? Living Room?

Umbrellas at pool and on beach???

Is there a gift shop at Jolly Beach Resort?

Thanks Jen

Hi Jen

1. The Deluxe 2 bed condos are larger than the basic 2 bed and have 2 bathrooms as well as a large wrap around balcony with a jacuzzi tub.

2. There is the Epicurean supermarket as well as several restaurants and bars in Jolly Harbour, all within walking distance from JBV. You can also rent a golf buggy from Reception.

3. You can get food and drink at Castaways Beach Bar, next to JBV.

4. Shopping is OK in St.Johns, both duty free and market shops. Try to avoid cruise ship days, as it can get busy during those times.

5. There are bars in Jolly Harbour and you can also go to the Hotel, if you so wish, for entertainment.

6. Breakfast is available in Castaways, next to JBV, but it is enjoyable to have breakfast on your balcony which is well equipped with table, chairs and sun loungers.

7. You will not be disappointed, The Suites are comfortable and nicely laid out. All facilities at the Hotel are free to use as well.

8. Not sure about the progress of the earmarked construction, but should have news on that when I speak to a friend who just returned from The Suites.

9. There is a TV in the lounge and the master bedroom. You can also ask to have another TV for the guest bedroom.

10. There are umbrellas on the beach as well as by the pools at the Hotel.

11. You will find is a small gift shop at the Hotel.

Hope that helps :))

Thank you, you answered all my questions. Do you recall if there is any sort of music around the pool during the day, radio, etc???

Hi Jen

Yes, there is music a lots of action round the main pool at the Hotel. We didn't really go there much, though. I spent most of my time doing water sports. Enjoy :))

You will not regret your decision in booking the 2 bed Deluxe, you will get to see the difference when you get there. If there is anything you would like to ask before you go, just post your Qs. Have a great time, Jen :))

You are welcome, Jen. Seeing a layout of the resort helps in putting everything into perspective, doesn't it? It is always difficult trying to imagine what it will be like if you have never been before but sometimes one is in for a nice surprise. Enjoy your hols :))
