We have been there twice, last year in July and this year in August 8-16. It rained a little and was not as sunny as last year. Honestly, it was also not as hot this year so we were not as exhausted at the end of the day. We are not big partiers either but still like to get out and have a nice dinner, listen to music and even dance a bit if we've had a few drinks. Bandidos was very nice. Zihuatanejo is a bit different and not as "touristy" as Ixtapa. I expected a locals bar, maybe intimate since it was described as "open air" to me by someone else. Boy was I surprised, it is open air with nice decor, clean bathrooms, very attentive, friendly waiters who also dance to the live music. The Salsa band we saw on a Friday night was spectacular! I wish I knew who they were. Saturday night was a different band that was pretty good too. Sunday afternoon they had relaxing jazz music playing. There were at least 4 flat screen tv's on. A couple had the Olympics on, the other two had salsa lessons on. The food was pretty good too, I can't wait to go back next summer to have the mango crepes again! The place is not huge, but very comfortable and enjoyable indeed. The crowd age ranged in age from families having dinner to young and middle aged couples. We are young 40's so we like everybody. There is a "Senor Frogs" in Ixtapa if you prefer the younger crowd. There is also a night club called Christines in Ixtapa that is supposed to be nice but i have not been there. We wanted a more relaxing anniversary trip this time. We stayed at a very modest but clean and private place called Bungalows Ley in Ixtapa. Our room was spacious enough, had a lovely view of Zihuatanejo bay and a fully equipped outdoor kithchen and hammock and patio. We did not cook but used the fridge. The manager speaks English very well. I snuck over to Las Brisas Del Mar next door and had a wonderful massage. That place was very nice and more resort-like but tranquil at the same time. I would definately want to stay there next time if I want to just relax on the beach or by the pool and eat at their fancy restaurant. Hope you have fun and try snorkeling at Las Gatas or Isla Ixtapa. Mary
