My wife and I are going to the Bahamas in April and are trying to decide where to stay. We have seen a lot of condo/cottage listings and that kind of thing would suit us well.

We would prefer to be right on the beach, but close would be okay. We aren't too interested in "doing" a lot of things, happy to sit at the beach with drink in hand. Maybe shop a little.

We tried to talk another couple or two into coming but I don't think that's going to happen, unless it's a last minute thing. Would we be able to book something last minute or should we play it safe and book now (my preference). If another couple doesn't go with us, we may take our daughter and her two year old.

Some places we are looking at include:

Topaz cottage at "Diamonds by the Sea".

Crystal Cay Condo (but I think it's on a canal and not the beach?).

Sea Gate Suite (is this on or near the beach?).

Hampton Court.

And many Coral Beach Condos.

Anyway, we appreciate help from anyone who can offer any advice. We went to the Virgin Islands last year and I found Trip Advisor an invaluable resource. One common theme in the Virgin Islands forum was to rent a car, which we did and it was well worth it. I don't see that so much here and I have a feeling it is because the terrain is a little different in the Bahamas (flat).
