This will be our second time to Caneel (leaving tomorrow) and I just had a quick question that I hope someone can answer today! This is our third time to St. John and this time we aren't going to rent a car. We have been to just about every beach (snorkeling is what we do the most) and always feel that Caneel really has the best experiences. Anyway, this time I decided to go for the meal plan and just stay put for a relaxing week. Has anyone purchased the meal plan - were gratuities included? Did you leave tips at the breakfast buffet? If so, how much? Did you leave tips on the dinner table (the Equator)? Tipping is always something I tend to overdo, but before I ask at the front desk, I hoped to get a few last minute opinions. Thanks. Judy

If you are on a package that includes alll gratuities then you do not have to tip.If it is a meal plan that you are adding to the room rate tips are usually not included but I would check to make sure.We usually do not have our tips included. You will sstill recieve a check even if you are on a meal plan. When you sign the bill you can either add a tip by writing one in or you could leave cash in the leather bill holder with your signed reciept.Tipping is very important to the waitstaff as it is their main source of income. The alacarte meal prices are more expensive than the meal plan,I will leave a $10 tip for two for breakfast or lunch and 20% for dinner.Have a wonderful time.
