After our first day there I knew I picked not only the right island but the right resort as well. The Sands was beautiful inside and out. The location was perfect. The staff wonderful. The beach leaves me speechless. We flew American from Philadelphia to Miami to Provo with not problems at all. We had a return flight on Sunday but changed it to Monday...I just couldn't leave. The Sands is in such a central location we could walk to the reef at Coral Gardens, port of Call and Salt Mill shops. I did take the Gecko a few times. We rented a car for a day which was well worth it. We spent one day driving and seeing the other side on the island.

Hemingway was the best place to eat over all. We had a great sunset dinner at Tiki Hut. Once of the best and cheapest breakfasts we had was at Gilleys. Shark Bites was nice and the food was good but its more of a bar then a restaurant.

Parasailing with Capt Marvin was a blast. I cant wait to do that again. I think my 2 favorite things we did were renting a car to explore on our own and a sunset cruise on Reef Peepers glass bottom boat. We had such a good time with Capped Roc that we took him for drinks at Shark Bites that evening. On our next trip we will be sure to book a tour trip with Reef Peepers.

The only problem we had was with Silver Deep, an excursions, fishing, diving and snorkeling boat. We had a fishing trip scheduled for Sat morning at 9, they left a message(at 8am) saying the trip was canceled and did we want to take the afternoon boat out, I called them back and said we did want to go on the afternoon boat. The lady told me she would call me back about the time. We never heard from her and we lost a day sitting around the room waiting. The 2 reasons I chose TCI was the beach for me and fishing for my husband. Since we had a deposit on Silver Deep we never look for another boat. By the time we new Silver Deep was not taking us out it was too late to get another boat.

Sandy, Thanks for your trip report. After going to Buck Island in St. Croix with only a few days left in our vacation I was kicking myself because we could not book another excursion in time. It was so fantastic I would have done it many times. From now on we will do what we really want first off, that way no disapointments. It is one thing to cancel because of weather, what reason did Silver Deep give you for cancelling the fishing? Did they return your deposit or give you any reason for there apparent lack of professionalism?

Sounds like you had a wonderful vacation inspite of the fishing disapointment.

Hi Sandy. Nice trip report. We are staying at the Sands Aug. 1-8. Which building were you in and was your room one of the refurbished ones? Did you like the location of your bldg./room? Your help is appreciated. We cannot wait for TCI!

Hi.. Thanks for this, I am so Glad that you fell in love with this Island!.

I am Sorry about Silver Deep. Arthur Dean is one of the best Fishermen and They have great staff and excursions. However, I will just say, that the Woman in charge there does not have the best people skills in the world!

I hope that you come back soon to experience some of the things that you missed.

Snorkling....Deep Silver never gave a reason but I didn't ask since the lady said we could go out that afternoon. All calls after that were voice mail. Good point about the deposit. I will check my credit card statement today.

Potcake... you are right about the woman in charge there. We flew to Miami with a lady and her adopted potcake pup. The pup was so excited as if he knew he was going to a good home.

Blamona..the water is past breaktaking. I will have to bring an inhaler with me next time! I took rolls of film on just the water, I couldn't stop myself. The water was more amazing each time I looked.

Jette...I don't know which building is new but we were in number 6. That is farest away from the water but i think it was nice because it was such a nice view of the gardens and pools and still water view over the palm trees

Thanks for posting a report Sandy. Isn't Capt Rock great? Did you have Garfield too as his assistant? Love the folks at Reef Peepers. They are so friendly.

Kris

Pigsterz, I dont know the name of the assistant with Capt Rock but he was something! He made me take several pictures of him alone to show to my daughter. I should remember his name since he claims to want to marry one of my daughters! lol
