You can do the Vieques Bio bay without having to stay on Vieques

scroll down the page for the bio bay

basically you leave Fajardo around 5pm, sail over to Vieques, have dinner then do the Bio bay tour (you get to swim in the bay). Then you are brought back to Fajardo at 10pm

Coast about $100 per person

Also, there are plenty of reallky good places to stay on Vieques too

Which tour are you using? If it is Island Adventures, I would recommend staying at the Hacienda Tamarindo. They are right next door to Island Adventures, so you can't get more convenient than that!

I've stayed at the Hacienda 3 times now, most recently in May...the rooms are absolutely beautiful (each with their own private bathrooms), louvered screened windows and french doors, rooms with AC, the grounds are lovely with a gorgeous pool overlooking the sea and the rate includes a delicious American breakfast in the morning. You will absolutely NOT be disappointed if you stay there.

what posts have you been reading? We have plenty of accommodations that would suit even the pickiest city girl. Yes there are modest places and even some higher end places (Hix Island House )that don't have screens because they have constant breezes and don't have a bug problem.

There are no TOURS to Vieques that I am aware of, except for Eastwind catamarans evening trip to Bio Bay, and they take you back to the big island by 10:30 pm. You have gotten the wrong impression somewhere.
