Could anyone tell me if this property was ever called hyatt or embassy? What is the story on it? I am planning a trip, found a great deal but read some of the reviews which were dated 2006 and 07 and instead of aquarius, embassy came up with the same property pictures. Reviews weren't so great in 2006 and 07. Does anyone know how old this property is and has it been renovated since it opened? The pictures of the roo kitchen area and pool look good but don't know how old they are. any info. would be so gretly appreciated.

It's part of the Embassy Suites compound, but managed separately.

You have access to all the facilities (pool, gym, beach, restaurants) of the Embassy Suites, but things such as breakfast cost extra.

The rooms are well-maintained.. Not sure when it was last renovated, but I've stayed in the Embassy Suites portion twice and once in the Aquarius Vacation club section (October 2007), and the condition of the rooms are similar.

Of course, you get a condo with a kitchen and dining room with the Aquarius.

We got a great deal on a two-bedroom condo there last October and found it to be a great value.

Thanks for your response, it seems your very knowlegable with most of the island. I'll remember you should I need some question or advice in the future. I was also looking into gran melia, ofcourse different catagory establishment, just waiting for the right promotion other than having to deal with a 90 min. tour. Thanks again!!

The Hyatt and the Embassy are two different resorts. I just came back on August 29, 2008 from the Aquarius Vacation Club Resort the pictures that they show on the website are to the Embassy which is considered to be two different resorts sharing the same amenities. The Aquarius has their own entrance and the lobby’s look NOTHING like the one on the website. The Aquarius does not check you in at the time you arrive they check you in according to if your rooms are ready. If you’re staying at the Embassy as far as the lobby and restaurants they are very small on the website they make everything look so big but it not big at all. As far as the Aquarius the lobby is very small. As far as my room it was dirty it had a dirty mop sitting in the closet for so long it had all the rooms smelling horrible the rugs were all stained the frig. was leaking. Aquarius charges for everything if you need clean towels they count the towels you have to give the same amount and if you do not return the same towels they charge you $25.00. Parking you share with the Embassy so you have to rent a daily parking space if you rent a vehicle for $8.00 daily. The pool area was nice but the showers didn’t work and you have to show a special card to get beach towels and if you do not return all the beach towel you will be charged $25.00 so it hard to enjoy the pool or the beach because your too busy watching your towels. The management staff sucks the only help your going to receive will be from a gentleman name Luis at the front desk. GOOD LUCK
