I don't want to drive but I would love to go to the rainforest with my husband and two small children. Does anyone know if there are drivers you can hire that know the area. Maybe show us a waterfall and a good place to eat?? Then possibly drop us off in Fajardo>

absolutely. we've done that many times on business trips.

i have no idea what it costs, though....since ours have always been done as a business expense.

ask the concierge at your hotel, they will be able to find one for you.

Try countrysidetourspr@yahoo.com. They have a small bus and are very knowledgeable.

I agree with using CountrySide Tours. We hired a private driver (Tony) through them to drive just the two us around the island one full day and then another half day to El Yunque and the Fajardo area. Dealing with Victor (who apparently owns and manages CountrySide Tours) via email was always efficient and prompt. Tony was such a nice, professional person who went out of his way to make sure we saw exactly what we wanted to see. He also was a very safe, careful driver. I could tell that Puerto Rico is really pretty easy to get around; great highway system, but for our first trip to Puerto Rico, it was nice to just sit back in a luxurious car and have someone show us around. We also liked just having the tours for us - no one else to wait for and we could move from place to place as quickly or slowly as we wanted to. That, to us, is makes it well worth it. I've had a few van/bus tours in my life and I hate them. Although they are inexpensive, someone is always late getting back to the bus or the bus pulls up at some shopping area for an hour when I would be happy to not stop at all.
