Did you hear about any theft/robbery issues?

How was the service overall?

Thanks!

We had a great time. We never experience bad service or upper management issues, service can be slow at times at the buffet at peak times and the terrace bar is service is slow

We had great weather and the hotel is beautifull.

The Good: food is good at the buffet, we tried all 4 a la cartes and they were all excellent, they have great steaks there.

Great rooms: spacious JR suites with comfortable beds, nice bathrooms and everything worked fine.

The beach snack bar is a great location for lunch with awesome jerk and great views.

The Bad: service at the terrace bar, great atmosphere but the service can be terribly slow, also at the buffet at peak times but generally we hade good experiences.

The ugly: nothing really

No issues with theft and we did not here of any.

I have lots of questions.... I fly to Jamaica on Saturday and will be staying at the GBP.

When did you set up your reservations for the alacarts, on arrival or before? What time of day did you arrive and how long did you wait to make reservations? Were you gold club and was there a big difference in gold club vs. non-gold club as far as rooms, views, restaurant reservations, drinks, etc.? And who did you use for transfer to and from the airport and what was the cost?

Hi,

Any tips for those about to go to the GBP? Are there any higher room categories than the Royal Golden, any suites, etc? What airline did you fly through?

Thanks!

Our a la cartes were done for us before we arrived as we were booked as royal golden. Royal Golden gets you the pre-booked a la cartes at earlier times, rooms on higher floors with prefered views & daily stocked fridge, access to the royal golden lounge w/free internet & other minor things, but no difference in drinks at the bars.

Our transfers were included with our package from the tour operator, we did not arrange it on our own.

I do not think there are any other room categories,

they are all junior suites & are pretty nice.

We flew with Air transat from toronto, on time both ways.

Thanks for the info LSSE! We are also going through Air Transat, did you upgrade to Club Class? We are trying to decide if we should treat ourselves or not!

Hi rocky1330,

We did not fly in club class as we have 2 young children and it would too costly, but I wish I did.

Better roomier seat, free drinks & think a better meal. If you're thinking of treating yourself, do it.

Rocky1330,

we were not offered anything higher than the Royal Junior Suite, but there appeared to be corner rooms with larger balconies - pagoda shaped.

I don't know what these were called or how much they charge for them.

We're going in November. When I booked (through Sears) I asked about the Royal Golden, and the agent was really iffy on the whole thing. I said I wanted it, and she emailed me a bunch of info, none of which include Royal Golden. We're flying Sun Wing. How can I find out if I actually have the Royal Golden? She indicated that we wouldn't get our itinerary until just before we leave.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

BTW, we're in Fergus - practically neighbours!
