We will be flying into MoBay in March and would like to go to Port Antonio for a few days. Has anyone taken a charter plane there and do you know about how much it costs? Any other suggestions for getting there expeditiously and inexpensively? thanks!

i believe you will save and also enjoy the drive and scenery by either renting or even better yet, hire a driver, which is not that much either... you will prefer hiring over renting i'm sure...

here is the info of a driva i just added in another thread... i took from the renting vs driving thread

Warren McKenzie (& his brother Kemar)

We prefer to fly (Air Jamaica)to Kingston and then about a 2 1/2 hour ride to Porty, We use Warren and his brother Kemar, both are great drivers... If you drive from Mobay its about a 4 to 5 hour ride, rather scenic, but a long ride. We prefer to spend our extra time on the beach and fly into Kingston now.

I see you are from the Midwest, we fly out of Chicago non stop to Mobay, then a 20 min. flight to Kingston. We leave Chicago at 7:00 am and are in Kingston at 1:15 pm. Cant beat that....: )

After you visit Porty, you realize a few days isn't long enough. Have Fun!

oh cool, thought we would have to look for a local company to do the mobay to kingston, but i rather not worry and use air ja then.

Just a note to say that i am pretty sure the airport in Port Antonio is still closed. So Kingston is the closest place to fly in, unless you have a helicopter ;)

absolutely, knew that. We prefer the Kingston airport for our travels to the east coast... but love the cost in mobay, but by looking at it, when adding up the mobay to kin cost, its the same as flying direct toronto kingston, so i believe we will stick to arriving in Kingston direct and not going thru mobay now.

I'm afraid for us that the tickets to fly to Kingston cost almost $200 more per ticket so we fly to Mobay then drive to Porty.

and how much is your cost from mobay to porty, if its lower than 200$; def. worth it, as you will get in mobay earlier. will certainly consider doing this as well in future trips.

I booked a flight on TimAir from Mo'Bay to PA in December for $1,300 round trip for two people (though I believe the price is the same for a third person)
