Hi All--

First time here on this forum so I apologize in advance if this question has already been asked.

My niece chose this resort for her wedding in June, 2010. I know it is adults only, but is it "couples" only as well?

She says its fine as long as you bunk 2 in a room, but judging from the TA photos it doesn't seem like a place where singles would fit in?

What do you think?

Thanks,

Dana

Thank you very much for that link.

For anyone else looking for the same info, here is an excerpt from their website.

"Does Couples Resorts accept singles?

All rooms must to be double occupancy unless traveling as part of a contracted group. In such event, Single Occupancy rooms may be limited."

Does anyone know if the prices for day passes is per person or per couple? Doesn't specify on their website.

Also, if we were to stay in a resort a couple miles down the beach, can we take a taxi to Couples and how much? Or is it okay to walk the beach?

Thanks,

Dana

Hi,

Day passes are per person. I do know though, that although it is a "Couples" resort they do allow a small percentage of singles, especially if they are connected to a wedding. We have been to Couples Negril 3 times and each time we have seen folks that are not couples but traveling together because of a wedding on the property. Trust me you will have a great time if you stay there and not feel out of place.

Hey Dana

For a wedding at Couples, they will allow singles to room together, it does not need to be a traditional couple, is your niece booking this as a "Group"? Just curious as I am a T.A.

Couples Swept Away does allow non-Couples that are part of a wedding group. They have a small amount of Garden Suites that have two beds instead of a king but they will not guarentee that you will get one of those rooms so you may be sleeping with whoever you stay with.

A day pass at CSA is $75 for the day and $75 for the night per person. This would cover all food and drinks. If you want to go there and don't want to stay at "Couples" you can stay at one of the non-AI's and spend some time with your neice at CSA.

CSA is a "couples" place. It's romantic.... but you won't feel out of place if you're among friends and family.

Idle Awile is a non-AI that allows you to use CSA sport facilities so if you stay there you could meet your family at CSA in the activities area.

Thanks Kool....by the way, thanks for all of the helpful info.

It's wierd, I would be travelling with my hubby so the couples thing sounds wonderful to me, but I was wondering about all of the other guests. It's good to know that singles are welcome with a wedding party. Can you imagine how that would put a damper on the vacation of some if they came to a couples only resort to find a bunch of singles partying it up? Might sort of spoil the mood!! LOL

I do think my niece is booking this as a group. She mentioned something about having to book 10 rooms so that she could get the wedding for free (I think). I however am going to wait until a few months beforehand because of babysitter issues. And I'm hoping that the prices will be much lower then??

Is CSA a resort that will typically run really good specials like 4-6 weeks out?

Hi Dana

Just returning the favor. I am still searching for that perfect getaway and getting close...IB Quetzal, maybe :-). Couples has different specials, sometimes up to 50 percent off. Check their website as well.

When we went to CSA for our wedding-moon my niece shared a room with her friend. They did manage to get a room with 2 beds, which was great for them (not so great for my brother and his wife who also got 2 beds and would ahve preferred a king). Anyway, they had a great time even though it is definitely all romantic and "coupley". There was so much for them to do.

I'm not sure exactly why you are asking though, since you say you are traveling with your hubby? Are you a little concerned about a lot of singles partying on the resort?

There have been posts on the Couples MB of people complaining about loud partying wedding groups, to the point where *some* feel singles should not be allowed. So I *think* Couples tries to limit the number of singles somewhat, even with wedding parties, to avoid the potential of any party situations happening (although really, some couples can party it up more than some singles. I don't think "gramma" would be an issue. LOL)

There were other wedding groups there when we were there and it was never an issue whatsoever.
