We are going to Sandals Negril (or Couples Negril - haven't completely decided yet) for our 10th Anniversary 1/14-19/09 (Yay!) I would like to make absolutely positively sure that we get the most for our money. I missed the 45% off sale that Sandals was having last week. Right now Couples has a Early Booking Special going on. Are either one gonna give a better special anytime soon? If so, should I wait? Especially considering how airlines are cancelling flights and etc.

We were gonna book through NWA World Vacations, if that makes any difference. I actually have some reservations on hold until tomorrow.

Call each resort and see if they will honor a lower price if the price drops between now and your trip. In other words, will they refund the difference if the price goes down. I am fairly sure that Couples will do this. I don't see why either of them would not. Couldn't hurt to ask them.

Tifphany,

The 45% from Sandals will always come around again...and once it's back on...it will stay for a while...I happen to catch it way back in Dec. 07 and it lasted for a good 3 to 4 month...and each sale have certain expiration dates..but not to worry...Sandals will extend those sales...

At the moment...Sandals is having a promo..."fly free and save up to 30% off + get up 2 nites free"...to be honest w/ you..not too good of a deal...well..on my part...it cost about $400-450 more than what I originally had booked...

If you book with Sandals, you can call if they have a lower price later on and they will match it, adjust your invoice, and refund you the difference. Happened to friends of ours just this year. They had a refund of about $200 come back on the credit card. Perhaps Couples Resorts would do the same thing???

This next part is just my own observation. At least here in Minneapolis (NWA headquarters) it was not cheaper for us to book with NWA vacations than it was to to book the vacation we took with Sandals and buy our airfare separately. By the time NWA vacations added on their taxes and fees, things were more expensive. Have you checked to see if you could possibly save by booking separately? Perhaps it's different in Tennessee. Right now though, here in Minneapolis, NWA aifare for Dec is twice as much as their nearest competitor. It might be worth checking into these separately :-) I think both Sandals and Couples will allow you to reserve your dates directly with them for a deposit of $400 and that is fully refundable up to 45 days before you go.

One other thing I want to remind you of. NWA and Delta want to merge. If that happens later this year and they consolidate, you can be sure they are going to combine flights, and probably cancel many flights. It's liable to be a big mess with both airlines while they are in the process of merging. Something else to keep in mind!

Teresa

Thanks so much for the responses!

NWA is a lot cheaper here because of the main hub located in Memphis (plus everyone else has connecting flights - NWA was the only one with non-stop to MBJ). But I actually did forget about the merger. I'll hold off and see what happens during the next few months. It looks like the current special at Sandals will end around mid-september. So I'm sure lots will have happened by then with NWA/Delta/Sandals/Couples and I'll be ready to book at that time.

Appreciate the help :)
