Is it true you cant really leave your hotels? Did anyone venture in Ocho Rios, is there much there and is it safe? Any info would be great thanks? |
|
Not at all. I have stayed in Ochi and walked out on a daily basis. Just like in Birmingham be aware of your surroundings and you'll be fine. It would be such a shame to go all that way and only see the inside of your hotel. :-)

It is safe to venture out, just be aware of your surroundings like you would anywhere you go.. People of jamaica will come up to you to have a chat, they are friendly.. some may ask you to buy items but just say no thanks and they leave you alone.. the market may be too much for you, get alot of asking to buy things there but we found it ok, just said no loads of times..to different people You have to go out and see some of the island and the towns. Its a beautiful island. Ocho rios has a shopping centre, a beach that you pay a small charge to get onto. Not far there is turtle park where they have turtles in that you can feed and hold if you want to.. Opposite sandcastles hotel. Nice park to sit in and read a book and just chill in as well You could go to margaritaville for a drink in ocho rios, bit expensive but nice to watch the people doing water activites on the beach and the cruise ships that may be in.. They do things there on certain days.. At night it is a night club
