HI,

Can anyone tell me any information about the weather out in Ocho Rios?

We travel down there in just over a week and every weather website I have seen and checked is the weather seems to be wet all week.

Is this light showers or pouring rain constantly all day?

Also I have not heard any reports of Hurricanes in the Carribean yet had anyone heard any different?

Lisa

Internet forecasts for Jamaica are terrible (so ignore them), but rain is likely...it is hurricane season.

It is not likely that it will rain all day, every day.

As for hurricanes, check out stormcarib.com for current updates, but things are clean right now (I think)...but that could change in a hurry. Hurricanes aren't exactly easily forecasted.

There are currently several tropical waves coming across the Atlantic, but it's way too early to tell where they may be headed and if they will become anything major! Just keep a cautious eye to the forecasts.

This time of year you will likely get a brief afternoon thundershower daily, but nothing to make your day a total wash-out!

Tropical storm Fay is due to pass by this weekend. It should be well past by Monday.

Check out www.nhc.noaa.gov for updates.

as Easton said, www.stormcarib.com is a great site for a Caribbean focused discussion and vantage of storms brewing... There are 2 systems out there now, Fay and another one bringing up the rear... keep an eye on them but as always the odds are more towards a storm not hitting than a storm hitting...

if you happen to 'unluck out' and have a system hit during your stay, it could be an outright storm or it could be 3-4 days of constant showers (although rare, it can rain all day every day for days on end... i've been down there last year this time exactly where it did just that (4 days of downpours mixed with a few hours of drizzle each day)... cleared up for a few days right after I left and then Hurricane Dean hit...

hopefully the coast will be clearer for you...

Chelle

We just got back from SDR in Ocho Rios, was there August 4-11. Before our trip, the weather web sites showed rain every day, like they show most days. :)

We had a short rain during the night a couple of nights, one early in the morning (6am), and clouds built up and looked like rain a couple of times, but not much. We have been there before, and found the same, even if it rains, it is usually only for a short period, and then back to sun.

Hope you have a wonderful time.
