Which should I choose? Or, is their a better alternative. We are staying next week at Sandals Dunns River. I believe each day we are there is a "cruise day."

I know the ATV tour is popular and it only takes a half day to do the mountain and falls. You can either go morning or night and I am not sure what time is best to avoid the cruisers.

I also know that many people enjoy the booze cruise. I am not sure which one to do or how long it takes. I also hear they offer snorkeling that is better than at Sandals and that you avoid the shops, which is good for me.

I would like to only spend about a half/day doing the one I choose. If possible I would like to minimize being in the crowds. I am not super focused on the booze aspect since I will probably drink plenty at the resort, but I would partake if available. Thanks for your help!

Tough call to make. I haven't done the ATV tour, but I have done the Cool Runnings booze cruise a couple of times, the latest being this past June. I think it is a blast and would recommend it, but booze cruise is an overstatement as there is no drinking allowed until you are finished snorkling/climbing and back on the boat. The cruise back to their pier is only about 30 minutes of boozing and dancing on the boat. Total time of excursion was 4 hours (including transportion time to/from hotel).

Personally I'd say the ATV/Falls, HANDS DOWN !

Reasons: You'll get to see some of the beautiful countryside and sights, it's more of a value overall, the Falls are very specific to Jamaica, you can do a "booze cruise" just about anywhere and most of what you get on the "cruise" (snokeling, swimming, drinking, boating) can be done any other time at no cost...

Blessings and respect to you.

Steve

Thank you both for your help. I think I am leaning toward the ATV tour. I will probably take the glass bottomed boat out at Sandals so then I will also get to go on a boat.

Do you have any tips on what I should wear/carry with me on the ATV tour?

You've probably already left, but for anybody else that reads this and is considering the Wilderness ATV Tour, you might want to email Neil or Chris Chin (owners) via their website. Neil told me that they are not offering the tour during August to work on their trails. If you do get to go, be sure to post a reply here or a review on its TripAdvisor site and let us know how it went. Here's a link I found from a journalist that went: www.atvmagonline.com/output.cfm?ID=928729.

Sorry... you obviously don't want the period in the link.

My boyfriend and I did the ATV tour last year when we stayed at Sandals Dunn's River. It was the best tour we have ever done. We had a lot of fun and once you get to the top of the mountain - the view is beautiful. We went in the afternoon. For the most part, we didn't have any issues with anyone on our tour. Make sure to bring clothes you don't mind getting dirty though, because chances are you will. I really recommend doing this tour in the afternoon.

Thank you again everyone for all of your help. The article is very helpful. We are leaving early Wednesday and I have emailed ATV to book the combo trip through their website. I have not heard back yet.

Sonicglitter, why is the afternoon better than morning? Is it less crowded? I was thinking about doing the tour in the morning since it is supposed to be close to 90 degrees that day. I also thought there may be less chance of a stray shower in the morning.

I will be sure to review the combo tour. Thanks again.

One more question, is there somewhere to change? I was planning on wearing jeans and sneakers for the ATV part, but wanted to change into a swimsuit for the falls part. We were going to carry a backpack with us. Thanks.

We choose the afternoon because most people chose morning tours. I would say there was about 15 other people on the tour and they break you up into beginner and experienced. We also choose the afternoon so we could lay on the beach in the morning and just in case there was a stray shower, our beach day wouldn't be rained out. We only did the ATV tour, not the falls tour. I believe there may be a bathroom to get changed in at the ATV place. But we may not be talking about the same tour, since mine was only the ATV part.
