Hi there, can anyone suggest a nicer hotel in the doctor's cave area? Is this area of Montego Bay where all the action is? I was looking on Expedia but all the hotels I could find in this area were 2 star. Thanks.

hello FNM6669,

Most hotels along the Hip Strip have a problem with the noise level because of the music.

The Wexford is at the end of the strip and just out of reach.

The good part with the music is that you get used to it.

When you get home you will miss it.....

ENJOY!!

FNM6669,

I would highly reccomend the Royal Decameron Montego Beach Resort! I stayed there from Jan 22-29th. I loved it!

It was the old Jack Tarr Resort, and has been bought and recently renovated by the Royal Decameron Group.

It is located right on the Hip Strip, is rated as a 3 Star, but almost everyone who has visited recently agrees that it is more like a 4 Star for the price of the three star.

If you have any questions about the Resort, just check out the thread started by SelectiveDi back in Dec. You will find almost everyone who stayed there had many good things to say about the Resort, and it can be booked cheaper than most of the other Resorts in the Montego Bay area.

No Problem Mon!

I agree with DaleJr, Royal Decameron is AWESOME, I jsut got back from there 2 days ago, and it is a definate 4 start if not a 5 star with incredible rates right now. I think thier rates are low becasue they are trying to get the word out about this newly opened resort. It was just re-opened and the Royal Decameron in December. Its beautiful, it sits at the end of the Hip Strip and is walking distance to everything! Best of luck!

Royal Decameron sounds perfect, thanks for the advice! Their price on Expedia is only $138/night, all inclusive. Wow, that IS really low. What do you all think of Sunset Beach Resort, is that nice or too far from the action? Also, can you go topless at the beach at Royal D?

Topless?

I did see one Gal who was topless when I was there. She was discrete and no one said anything to her. That was on the large portion of the man-made beach area right in front of the resort. So it's pretty much tolerated, but hey, your in Jamaica, isn't everything pretty much tolerated in moderation? LOL :)

In the online portions of many Royal Decameron Montego Bay descriptions by tour opperators it lists this Resort as being 18+. While I was at the Resort there were children around, not alot but none the less they were present. I would think this was due to all the over-booking and bumping that was going on over at the RDCC location, or just the cheaper rates at this location.

Respect & No Problem Mon!

I too would suggest the Royal Decameron, I was there the same time as Dale Jr and it is a wonderful resort! I too am looking forward to going back again. I have heard that they have opened their gift shop now and you can get some good deals. I didn't find that it was very noisy there either and we were on far side of the resort in the two storey building. I would suggest that you read some of the reviews of the Royal Decameron - Montego Beach here on Trip Advisor to get a better idea. Where ever you end up though I am sure that you will enjoy it, yah mon!

oh and I forgot, I did hear that there is a topless beach not far from the RD - Montego Beach if you are interested in that.

According to the information on the Air Transat website (I am looking for a march break trip for me and my kids) it seems the RD Montego Beach is no longer 18+....as they specificially mention a kids club for ages 4-12 and do offer a "kid's rate"!

I understand that there have not been many children there because I am sure many people are unaware of this change obviously brought about by the Royal Decameron purchase.

Johnny's list has one hotel tht is not at all loud.

El Greco is actually not on the hip strip, it's up on Queens Drive, way up high on a cliff overlooking the sea.

BUT - it has a unique setup with a high rise on the strip. You walk over an indoor overpass from El Greco right onto the 15th floor of this building (which is a hotel/apt setup, long term I think) and take the elevator down and then you are right across from the beach on the strip!

The suites there are clean and modern, living room, kitchen, one or two bedrooms. OK pool, some rooms have views some don't.
