if you liked the riu, why switch?... unless you think the proximity to the airport would be cumbersome, I'd say the Riu is a bit more "multi-purpose" as a family destination....

there's also a little more to do in the immediate montego bay area than in the immediate lucea area (unless you don't plan on getting off site)...

I would go with the Palladium if you are getting a good deal. I think the price will increase substantially in the future. My friends stayed there and loved the location. They were on vacation primarily to relax so they did a quick excursion to Montego Bay and another to Negril. They drove around Lucea and loved the feel of a more authentic Jamaican town.
