SRC questions- Pri. Island/ Cabana/ Shuttle/ Beach Party etc |
|
I admit that some of these questions are probably pretty trivial, but I love to know even the little things before I go: Do the staff seem to mind if you grab a few beach chairs and drag them to less crowded areas? It seems to me that the private island would be the ideal spot to spend the days. What are the cons? No food available? If so, where do you grab food-to-go at the main resort? Just the beach bar? Anyone know more details about the cabana rentals? Are you served drinks all day? Are you served lunch? I’ve read that the price is $125- correct? Is there another package that include the candlelight dinner? Price? When you reserve a cabana…are you able to pick out the exact location? How often does the private island ferry run? And the shuttle to the other resorts? Are the other restaurants closed during the beach party buffet? If so, is the beach party really enjoyable? I’m not going for a party scene…so maybe a good night to go to Tokyo Joes? My sincerest "Thanks" for any responses. |

I just returned from SRC 2 weeks ago. I spent my honeymoon there, and we are already planning on going back next year for our anniversary, it was wonderful! The staff does not mind if you take chairs to more private locations, but in my opinion, while we were there, it was not needed. The resort was said to be full the entire week we were there, but we never found it crowded at all. The private island was our favorite place to go! We spent 3 entire days there once we got all of our tours out of the way. If you don't mind, the clothing optional beach is the best. It is private and not crowded at all. In fact, the most people there at one time was maybe 2 or 3 other couples. The shuttle runs on the hour, every hour, from 10-4 I believe. There aren't many chairs on the "CO" beach, so I suggest getting their early. We typically caught the 10 boat over and let there around 4. We did not like leaving for lunch in case we lost our chairs, so we just went to the gift shop and bought some snacks to take over with us. GlenRoy at the island swim up bar was great, ask him for his special "Taste of the Island", it is wonderful! I'm not sure on the price of the cabanas, we didn't get one, although, they did look wonderful! I'mnot sure about how often the shuttle run to the other resorts, but I believe it is on the hour, not sure about the starting time, but if you go into the lobby, right outside the main doors there is a board with all times posted. We went to SMB one night for dinner, but other than that, we wanted to spend our time at our own resort, specifically the private island! We ate the french restaurant the night of the beach party (Friday night), so i know it isn't closed. I know that Wednesday nights, the french restaurant is closed, and Friday nights, I think the Royal Thai is closed, and there is also one night that the Pavilion is closed, but I'm not sure of which one. We didn't send a lot of time of the beach party, we watched Leroy, the fire eater, and that was about all. All in all, this resort is wonderful and we will be back! Which room category did you book?? Have a great time!!

Thanks. That's great info. We currently have a Royal Grande Luxe Beachfront room. Everything above that is sold out, and we are on a waiting list. If nothing becomes available, I have requested the Balmoral section in hopes that some of those rooms have been updated. As opposed to the Sandringham, which I know have not. Anyone know about these rooms in the Balmoral building? Again, Thanks

For anyone else wondering, here are the shuttle times for SRC-SMB. SRC to SMB: On the hour from 9am - midnight (but no 1 PM shuttle) SMB to SRC: Every hour, on the 45 min mark from 8:45 - 11:45 (but no 12:45 PM shuttle)

The Balmoral building has not been upgraded yet. Those will start some time this year as they are the older butler rooms. The beaches never got crowded that you needed to move your chairs. The Private Island is the BEST! We spent all our days there. We had a butler so we just phoned for food when we were hungry so we never had to leave, but you can take a basket of food from the grill and noone will say anything to you. The Cabana rentals are 125 for the day. You can choose where you want them either the main resort or the island, which I would say is best. You have Micheal the cabana concierge take care of you all day bringing breakfast lunch snacks drinks fresh towels and anything else you might think you want. The price is seperate for the dinner because you only get the bed till about 4 I think. The boat runs every hour to the island but if they are not busy they'll run you over or pick you up without a problem. The beach party was good. We had a reserved table thought by our butler. The food was great as there is a huge variety of it! Then the fire breather and all the games they play after are great! We had a blast that night!!! I think only 1 place is open that night for dinner so if you dont plan on going to the party make reservations at MoBay. There is NOT a party scene what so ever at the Royal. Its very laid back even that night. Check out my photos of the fire breather and stuff. WWW.mywedding.com/garyandcrystal The professional ones around the resort have the fire breather in them! Let me know if you have more questions.

Thanks so much for the tips. And congrats on getting married. And great pics!

Hi, we just returned from Sandals 'Mo Bay, we did however spend alot of time at the SRC island. The last boat over to the resort is 5 pm not including the dinner traffic. HTH

Welcome back 2_Rastas!!! How was everything?? Send me an email when you have time. Here is a link to the shuttle schedule between the three Sandals resorts in Montego Bay: …snapfish.com/slideshow/…72871333 The Beach Party Night is a wonderful buffet set up on the beach. Then they take away the food and have the fire dancer/eater, limbo contest, a bon fire, stuff like that. Not a get drunk beach party scene. It is a lot of fun really. If you want Tokeyo Joe's, make that reservation as soon as you get checked-in. Also the Royal Thai or Cucina Romana need to be booked asap. if you want to go to those. They always keep one non-buffet restaurant open as an option for those who don't care for buffets. The first boat to the island goes over at 10 am. If you plan to go, catch that shuttle to get a good spot. You can bring food from the breakfast buffet, the beach grill, or the lunch buffet, depending on when you go over. Otherwise, one of you can stay while the other runs for some food. Last boat is usually about 4 pm so they can set up for dinners at the Royal Thai or private functions. They will come pick you up if they see you standing on the dock waiting. Another poster answered perfectly about the cabanas and I can't remember the cost to keep it all day and night with the private dinner served there either. IrieLady
