My restaurant picks: 1. Alexandria's at the (Courtleigh Hotel)-Jamaican and International Cuisine 2. Dragon Court on (South Avenue)-Great Chinese Food 3. Norma's on the Terrace (Devon House, Hope Road)-upscale Caribbean dining 4. Gloria's (Port Royal)-Best Seafood in Jamaica 5. Island Grill-(throughout Kingston)-Best local fast food chain 6. Red Bones-Blues Cafe in (New Kingston) Nite Clubs: 1. Quad (New Kingston-Knutsford Boulevard) 2. Assylum (New Kingston-Knutsford Boulevard) 3. Habibi Latino (New Kingston-Knutsford Boulevard) 4. Jonkanoo Lounge (Inside Hilton New Kingston Hotel) 5. Priscilla's-Constant Spring Road Bars/Lounges 1. Cuddyz (New Kingston)-upscale sport's club 2. Friends in the place-Constant Spring Road (The Marketplace) 3. Backyaad-Constant Spring Road-live stand-up comedy some nights 4. Jamrock Sports Bar and Grill-(New Kingston-Knutsford Boulevard) p.s. As you may imagine Knutsford Boulevard located in New Kingston is the equivalent of the Hip Strip in Montego Bay

Hello cayman, Alimirage has given you an excellent set of choices. If you want two places that compare in quality and are equivalent in having the best settings(like Strawberry Hill) JACKS HILL Ivors Guest House Inn. Phone: (876) 927-1460, (800) 472-1148 Fax: (876) 977-0033 Description: Ivor is small 10-acre property in the foothills of the Blue Mountains, overlooking the city of Kingston. The house was built in 1880 and is furnished with traditional mahogany furniture. The views are spectacular - temperature in the 70s year-round. Cuisine is international and very popular with visitors and business people alike. BLUE MOUNTAIN INN Located in an 18th century coffee plantation with only four exclusive rooms, will only serve dinner with a reservation. Specializes in steaks and seafood. Tel: 876-927-1700 Fax: 876-927-2606 This most elegant and unique setting is a 30-minute taxi ride from New Kingston and worth every penny of the fare. The antiques-laden inn complements its English colonial atmosphere with Continental cuisine. All the classic beef and seafood dishes are here, including chateaubriand barnaise and lobster thermidor. Reservations essential. Jacket required. AE, D, MC, V. Closed Sun. No lunch. The in place to be seen in Kingston and where you will definately get the chance to socialize and meet nice decent ladies. Dont miss it. Up-on-the-Roof, New Kingston. www.jamaicanlifestyle.com/upontheroof.htm ENJOY!

If you want Caribbean food I would try "Up on the Roof" or "Red Bones". Both mentioned in a previous post. If you want to meet girls I would try Quad, an if you get fed up with local gal try the club underneath Christophers Bar in Quad. I guarantee you will meet some gal there. If you want to be safe, stay in the New Kingston area and be sensible. A safe cab co. is ONTIME cabs.

All info given seems good so far but you must try a new restaurant called Velisa's at 11 Devon Road - just off Waterloo Road - 1 minute from the Terra Nova Hotel, which also has good fine dining and a gaming room called Monte Carlo, for some alternative entertainment. Although Blue Mountain Inn used to be all those good things mentioned - I am not sure it has re-opened since changing hands a couple years ago. Good place to meet local girls? Try Lime Cay on a Sunday - nice beach (island off Kingston Harbour), good fun - lots of locals. Have fun - you won't regret choosing to be in Jamaica!

Star Apple is a great new place too... more of a 'date' place .. if u meet some nice girls.. not expensive just not a singles scene (great food) on Hope Rd. The Quad is fun and the jazz bar downstairs, Christophers is 'upscale' vibe but a good crowd! Great suggestions from the previous poster!
