We are going to a wedding in August at the Tera Nova Hotel. I am trying to figure out if we should stay there or at the Pegasus. We were told they were basically across the street from one another. I read about Tera Nova and it has only 30 rooms, and might not be a good thing and not offer many amenities? It seems small. Which would you recomend? It will be me my husband and out 1 year old son.

Thanks

CanadianMaq- Terra Nova is not across the street. It would take about 10- 20 minutes drive (depending on the traffic). Terra Nova is smaller & is not within walking distance to other places you may want to go. The Pegasus is in New Kingston, nearer to several other places you could go to eat, shop, cinema, clubs etc. The Pegasus would have more entertainment than the Terra Nova. You could stay at Terra Nova until after the wedding you move to Pegasus, so you get the best of both worlds.

Unless you have a car best to stay in New Kingston central - Terra nova you would need a car or to take a taxi.

My fave place to stay is Altamont court - small safe and clean family hotel. I have stayed in most of the hotels there and this is by far the most friendliest and great bang for your buck!

I was even 'trapped' there for Hurricane Dean and we had a blast! LOL

Great Jamaican owned place - behind the pegasus/Hilton.

I just got back with my 7yr old who loves it that every time we go there, they remember his name! Now that's my kind of hotel!

Its also walking distance to all the restaurants and fast food joints.

CM, If I were you I would stay at the Terra Nova.

The wedding is there and you have a 1 YO. When he gets tired and cranky you can take him to the room and bed him down. I'm sure the management could arrange for a nanny for you so you could return to the festivities if you give them enough notice.

Terra Nova is small but has with all the amenities you could want.

Sorry Kingston Cat, I totally disagree with you on Pegasus. They have a 1 year old so clubbing is out and even if it wasn't, I would NOT recommend they walk to or from any club on the strip at the time of night that is great for clubbing.

Nor would I recommend walking to and from the cinema for anyone esp with a 1 YO.

Shopping on the strip ? Or did you mean New Kingston Shopping centre ? I've been out of Kingston for a few years but I really don't remember any great shopping there.

Walking on Knutsford during the daytime to fast food places or restaurants is not enough of a reason to choose Pegasus.

Taxi's are not that expensive. Choose the Terra Nova and enjoy the wedding !

I've never been to the rooms at Tera Nova, but the hotel property itself is lovely, there's a lot of green space for your son to explore, not so much so at Pegasus from my recollection,.. I agree.. Tera Nova... taxi to where you need to go (with an infant, probably wouldn't be a multitude of places)....

Enjoy!
