just wondering about their dinner buffets. which one would have better food and show? sea star is only $12 and includes transfers...and negril escape is $25. but im really interested in the quality of the food and show not so much on the price.

Based on my experience eating a la carte at seastar, and seeing their show on realnegril.com, and my experience eating the buffet and seeing the sunset show at Negril escape, I'd say the food is better at seastar and the show possibly better - a bit - at escape. However i was at escape with a ton of people and that might have made the difference.

I'd check Seastar...the deal is great for the food only.

I did the Seastar thing in December. The show was a lot of fun, decent band & Rasta Ralphie was great If you get to see him you will see someone who is truly unique, and authentic, and has been a part of Negril for as long as I have been going there. The show & fun runs well into the evening. Good vibe with a lot of regular west end people mixed with a few locals. The buffet however was very disappointing. Limited variety etc. but it was not a real issue. You get what you pay for and like I said, it was a good vibe.

I have not done Negril Escape but I have heard their sunset show from next door at Seagrape Villas if that is what you are referring to. It sounded like watered down tourist reggae music, not authentic if you catch my drift, but still a good band. There was a huge crowd though and they were enjoying themselves. The show I'm referring to didn't go late but maybe they have something different now. You could check once you are in Negril. Given the number of rooms and that it is directly on the coast whereas Seastar is up a side road, it would appeal to a larger tourist type audience than the Seastar. I have to assume the buffet is much better as well.

It comes down to what is important to you.

mmmm...not sure. seems like everyone really likes sea star so i would like to go there. and maybe order something ala cart if theres not that much on the buffet. (can you do that?) for the price you cant beat it. negril escape is $10 without the food so by going to sea star you're not out anything especially since transportaion if included.

oh... i forgot, we were really interested in seeing the fire eaters too are they at sea star? forgot to put that in my origional question. i know they are at negril escape.

or i guess we can always do both! lol

'fire eaters' - aka tourist show - not at Seastar.

I really do not believe you can order a la carte when the Saturday night buffet/show/live realnegril.com web cast is on. It is what it is and for $12 it's a bargain.

maybe we will just check them both out. sounds like they each offer something a little different. but at least i know a little of what to expect now.

we dont stay up late enough to enjoy the other shows. i like to get up really early and walk the beach before everyone else wakes up. its just soooo beautiful then.

thanks again for the info.

I've been to both shows...

The Seastar food I've always really enjoyed...as others do including many other hoteliers & restaurantiers that live here in Negril...whom have become regulars at the Seastar buffet & show (no, disrespect to BP's opinion).

The food is good Jamaican-style fare which includes chicken, fish and pork with rice/peas and veg. The show currently has the Stephen West & Togetherness Band with different guest singers each week....it's a big show with an intimate feel and whole lotta fun!!

I really enoyed the show at Negril Escape...it's a nice history of Jamaican music....the fireaster is at this show. I cannot comment on the food as I've not eaten there...but the comments made to me from a few people....the food they offered was priced on the high side.

Whatever you choose to do...I know you'll have a great time!!

really torn so im thinking just do both. my husband would be happy going to two shows so i dont think ill have any complaints.

seems like sea star has alot of repeat customers and is very popular. i really would like to try their coco bread pizza ive read about, but if i cant order xtra things on the side(at an additional cost) then thats ok too. as far as food goes as long as there is some jerk chicken ill be happy!

Hi

Referring to Blue Pirates post, the Sunset Show at Negril Escape has been relaunched recently from how it used to be in the past and much more improved. I have been recently and can certainly recommend it, very well put together and professional. The one at Seastar is also ok but is on a smaller scale.
