If your travelling to this hotel and have any room in your suitcase please bear in mind that the cost of living out here is very high and lots of things are rarely available in the shops or are silly prices.

If you have space bring extra toiletries as these items are the most expensive here.

As an example eye make up remover pads (just cotton wool) cost 5 USD for a small packet here and about 1GBP at home - and that's if the shop has any!

I wish we'd known before we came as we had loads of space and could have put a smile on a lot of faces with these wonderfully helpful staff.

I never know what to take, So I just end up leaving money, I don't want to offend anyone, but if there are things I can take then I would.

Also what do you do? How do you give gifts of this kind?

We did notice that they liked our mints, I left some in our room and I thought my husband was eating them all, but it was the maid! I didn't mind, I will remeber to bring more next time!

Any ideas on what to take would be greatly appricated, all the staff do a great job!

Monkie

I took lots of satchets of Shower Gel, Shampoo, Exercise Books, Pencils, Pens, Rubbers, Pencil Sharpeners, and we left all left overs, I took a Gift Bag, and placed them all in a gift bag, with a note attached, translated into Spanish, explaining to the Maid they were gifts for her and her family, or if she didnt need them, please distribute to other staff members, then I put my Name and room number.

Just to keep this important post rolling...

Pain killers etc. 23p in tesco, are 9 dollars for a strip of about 10 tablets. locally.

We take enough to give a packet to every gardner/pool/maintenance type of person that we meet !

Calpol/ ibrofuren for children, just impossible to buy there on their pay. Baby creams like sudofed/face wipes /nappy wipes/ nappy bags /childrens books.

the list goes on, but all is truly appreciated by all.
