I understand the excusions run about $75 US each. Are they really worth it? I'm not really interested in the island one because I will have the beach and snorkeling at the resort. But would there be a good one for the family to participate in for a one day change of pace? |

The Outback Jungle Safari Jeep ride is AWESOME and well worth every penny....you get to see the country side, a dominican home/village, eat sugar cane, drink....swim on a private beach on the carribbean side of the island, and so much more...it's so fun and I've been on it two different times and would do it again!! I think it's around 80$ US.

Angie's right. Saona Island was a great excursion. Mostly if it's a sunny day. However, be aware that it's a long drive to get there. From Ocean Cana it took us about 2 hours to get to the point where you take the catamaran (or speed boat). But you are in a comfortable bus and looking out is fun. We also did the Bavaro Runner witch is the same trip as the Safari described by the fellow (sugar can field, visit in a local house, carabean beach, visit in a cigar manufacture). Alex, our guide, is apparently the best. He was very funny and interesting. Yes, they are expensive but worth it. They are part of my good souvenirs. If I had to choose only one, it would be Saona.
