We are also leaving from Edmonton, in 10 days, flying on Sky Service to Sunscape Beach. Can you tell me what movies they showed on the plane down and back? Did you have any delays?

Hey DRdreamer, where to begin...

We were 1 hour late leaving Ed, supposedly because the plane had to be deiced in Regina and the crew there didn't clean/cater the plane before it came to Edmonton. The crew was apologetic & kept the vcr running, showing a total of 3 movies on the way down: Skycaptain & the World of Tomorrow, Wimbledon, & Mr 3000. You stop in Puerto Plata to drop off passengers and pick up others returning to Ed. We were there for another hour & a half- not sure if this is as long as it usually takes, but likely not, as we didn't land in Punta Cana until almost 10, putting us well behind the scheduled time of 7:30. It took about an hour to get to Sunscape the Beach. If you are at all queasy (like I am), take some gravol for the journey as the roads are badly damaged from the Hurricanes and the drivers do a lot of swerving around the giant potholes. I checked into my room just after 11pm, and checked into my second room around 12. LONG story...

Back was on-time leaving, but we were delayed in arriving by an hour because there were really strong headwinds. I nearly died laughing when some ignoramous behind me who clearly did not have any concept and aerodynamics, actually asked what the wind had to do with flying times! Anyhoo, they showed 4 movies on the way back: The Bourne Supremacy, Raising Helen, Along Came Polly, & Mr 3000 again. It was apparently supposed to be Friday Night Lights, but it was missing.

Food was typical. They provided non-alcoholic beverages at no cost, and periodically came through the cabin with water.

On the whole, having never travelled with Skyservice before, I found it better than I had thought it would be.

Hope that helps. Any + ?'s, don't hesitiate to post.

:-)

That helps a lot. Thanks for the information. Do you have to get off the plane in Puerta Plata? What did they serve for food on the plane? Also, when you are that late in arriving in Punta Cana, is the shuttle to the resort still waiting for you?! Sorry, lots of questions!

No worries DR. Glad to help :-)

Q. Do you have to get off the plane in Puerta Plata?

Apparently, this changes on a continuous basis, depending on the mood of the airport staff, but yes we had to get off. They give you a red Transit card & you can explore the airport, which is a bit dingy, esp when compared to the PC airport, which is so cute. You'll see what I mean!

Q. What did they serve for food on the plane?

Some sort of omelet/egg concoction on the way down & I took advantage of my drink coupons to enjoy a mimosa. They served penne pasta in a tomato sauce along with a decent brownie for supper on the way back, but they don't serve you until fairly late, so you may want to bring snacks from the resort. (I brought my juice boxes and water.)

Q. When you are that late in arriving in Punta Cana, is the shuttle to the resort still waiting for you?

Yep. They have to wait for everybody, and I got the feeling that they were used to it. I was the only one on my shuttle bus for 35 minutes after the last drop off @ Grand Paradise. I had to pretend I was going to throw up to get the guide to leave me alone! Hah- oh the memories!

I have a question of my own, how did you know which review was mine???

Enjoy!

Much of what you said on Debbie's was posted here somewhere. What is the drink coupon you mentioned?

If you opt for the Premier Package, which honestly is a big-time-rip-off, you get 4 beverage coupons. Otherwise, they charged you $5.
