Natalie,

How was your trip? I read a pretty bad review on this board yesterday. It kind of worries me since we leave in 17 sleeps.

I got back from Breezes after Xmas. It was pretty close to opening since the hurricanes when we went and everything seemed fine to us. I didn't love the food but lots of folks said they did. The resort was beautiful and I felt it was kept very clean. The beach was the most beautiful I have ever seen and the people and staff were very nice. Relax, I read a lot of the reviews and I have to tell ya, if you can't have a good time there then you should never leave home.

My stay was great. The pool is gorgeous- very clean. The service is great, the staff can't do enough to help you. The cocktails are good. Try the golden pineapple. The food was ok- the buffet had masses of choice and the service here is fab. Breakfast is amazing, loads of choice. The a la cartes varied. Japanese was excellent, French was average, Grill was good, as was Mexican, but at all of them the portions were very small. We tried 3 nights in a row for the Italian without success. They take bookings from 6-6.30pm but the queue is down the stairs by 5.45pm. On our last night the waitress told us they only take 20 bookings per night!!! The grill/bbq is good for lunch is you're by the pool. Rooms are well equipped, not 5* but by no means bad, and always clean. The entertainment on a night is simple but very enjoyable, it is usually at the ampitheatre and there's a lot of crowd participation. (I was in a dancing comp and believe me, I can't dance!) There's loads going on during the day around the pool and you can get watersports equipment between 10am and 4pm. The beach is gorgeous, but the sea is surprisingly choppy so you can't swim that far out but the waves are great for boogie boards! The hotel shops are way overpriced so make sure you have things like books, magazines, chocolate etc so you don't have to buy them there. as the resort is in the middle of nowhere. There is a market up the beach to the right for alcohol, souveniers and cigars. Whataever price they ask, offer them a third, then offer a few dollars extra. Do NOT go any higher. They will come down. Don't worry, I couldn't really have faulted the hotel and we had a great time. I can recommend the Saona and Monster Truck Safari trips also. If you need any more info, just ask.

Got married at Breezes PC in October 2003. Wonderful hotel - great service and food. They were renovating rooms at the time. So much to do - loved the rock climbing and trapeeze. Beach is gorgeous. Didn't care for the kayaking, as waves were quite nasty! Went on the Saona Island trip and would highly recommend it. We stayed 2 weeks and could have stayed longer...I am still waiting for hubby to take me back there... I have lots of pictures and could email some if you like.

We are going there in March and have been a bit worried about some the reviews. You have put my mind at rest - thanks. We just want a chilled out holiday with reasonable food and drink.
