I was at CDM which is transitioning into Dreams LaRomana.

At that time they had closed building 4 and were working on it and they were also working on building 5 and 7 the oldest of the rooms...

Also while there I had a tour of what the new "preferred Club Rooms and Suites" will look like as they had done models. Sr Bernidino Ibbera the Resident Manager and Sr. Fernando Rameriaz the Rooms Division Manager gave me the tour...

This is part of an email I can share:

"For now building 4 and 7 are closed and the construction of sunscape blvd in the front is coming along great. New Theatre, disco and convention center being built. Damarios and Himitsu are closed and being worked on as well.."

We booked a 2 week stay at this hotel from 10 Nov 2008 and have been trying to find out about construction work that might be happeing during this time. I have had emails from the tour operator and info@dreamsresorts.com which contradict each other.

The tour operator said 'There is some noise to be heard and ALL facilities will be remaining OPEN throughout the time of your stay'.

Dreams resorts said 'As stated on our site, the resort will not become Dreams La Romana until December. I am unsure as to why someone advised you differently. During your stay in November, you should expect what Sunscape has to offer as not all Dreams facilities will be available and all rooms will not be finished until December'.

I have been trying to find out the truth, but so far have had NO luck. Going to see about changing accomodation as this is our main holiday of the year and we have worked too hard to have it spoiled by building work.

Please let me know if you find anymore details.

Hi all, i have also booked to go the Dreams La Romana on 10th November 08 and we too have had a few concerns after reading various posts. We emailed Dreams direct who advised us that the hotel will revert to Dreams in December and not November. It may be worthwhile doing that for yourselves and taking it to your agent as we have, at least then if there are any problems with the resort ie not getting the service advertised in the brochure you have a come back!!!! Anyway our agent rang Thomson head office for further info after we produced the email and we got a snotty reply....don't worry you'll get what you have paid for! However, on the plus side, if you look at the recent posts under Sunscape Casa Del Mar they sound promising as people are still holidaying at the resort but not under it's new name.

I will be at Dreams La Romana in January--hoping all work will be completed by then! If you go to expedia.com and pull up Sunscape Casa del Mar there is a renovations schedule under "more hotel information". I didn't book through expedia but I think it's great they have the schedule posted for people before they decide whether or not to go to this hotel.
