Hi, I'm going to Antigua at the end of September

this year and cannot decide which hotel to use. I'm thinking of either the Verandah or Grandpineapple,is there anyone on this Forum that can advise me which is the best. Wife likes to lay by the Pool and I like snorkelling, both like a drink and Nightly entertainment. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

Welcome soon. Both will be very quiet in Sept. I know V has some good low season specials. Not much for nightly entertainment at either spot. Both very secluded. Decent snorkeling at Long Bay.

Thanks for the Info. You say that Longbay is good for snorkelling, are there any restrictions, for example I noticed that there motorised water sports, can these get in the way or are they kept at a distance ?

On the websites there appears that there could be a lot of walking between the beach, swimming pool and Rooms, is this the case ? Also which room would be best at the Pineapple, Garden view or Beachfront ?

Paul

Comparing Verandah and PBR are like apples and oranges. At PBR you're by the beach (Long Bay) which is all safe. The choices of room in a way depends on your budget. My favourite is Waterfront.

Why is comparing Verndah to Grand Pineapple like apples and oranges? Which place is better for young kids (age 4)? Thanks.

Hello Paul...I just read your post from July. We are looking into Antigua and I'm wondering which hotel you stayed at - Verandah or Pineapple? How was your trip. We've been to Mex several times but never as far south as Antigua. We dive and enjoy snorkeling and hanging out on the beach. How was the night life? Not looking for anything crazy. Any info will certainly help. Thank you, Jane

Hello Jane

I stayed at the Pineapple as the Beach there is far superior than the Verandah. Snorkelling was good but needed to go out past the bhouys to see anything decent, although if you went to the far end of the beach you could either feed the fish in the shallows or do some snorkelling around the rocks with it not being too deep. As for the Nightlife it was normal Carribean stuff, Steel Band, Disco, Normal Band, Karaoke and wait for it a Magician !! However we used to go to the Grill for the Nightclub but found most nights it was only us in there but at least we could drink til late.

It appears the Verandah "suites" are really only one big room... same deal with Pineapple?
