Long Bay Hotel |
|
Hello This is another hotel we might consider, but the only problem i can see is the beach seems to have disappeared in some of the photos! Does anyone know if it is wide most of the time? We'll be going in late November if that's any use! |

Hello Crawley - I can see you are getting desperate! It would help if we know your budget. But for what's it worth....Long Bay Hotel is situated just next door from Veranda, it is much older resort and it is described as not being suitable for young honeymooners as older crowd tend to stay there.(ha) It is all AI resort but it has a great bar called the Beach on Long bay beach which is absolutely stunning, the best beach in Antigua in my view. It is usually closed over the summer months for refurbs etc. Veranda has only opened last year with few teething problems as you probably gathered from reviews. It looks very secure, fenced all around, guarded entrance. It looks very cute from the Devil's bridge. I am quite surprised at all the available offers - starts from September. But it is low season.I would be careful and request the rooms which are just in the first row on the cliff - best sea views. As for children, I am always wary of places which have special Kids clubs as this one has, and for that reason would not consider it. But not many school holidays in November so should be OK but the babies and todlers! The area round these hotels is quite beautiful, the Devil's bridge, Long Bay, but it is quite a distance (relatively) from the airport and St Johns, you might consider car hire to see the island properly. If you budget allows look at Galley Bay, Carlisle Bay, Blue Waters. I hope someone else comes with better description, failing that why don't you send a message to some of the people who went to these hotels for some more intimate insight. Good luck.

Hi Tyrer Desperate! Ha ha. Not quite yet :-) Our budget is roughly what we are currently paying at Cocos, which is $420 per night. I'm afraid Galley Bay and Blue Waters seem to be out of our price range. We took such a long time to decide on the Cocos and now i feel like we might have to do that all again. We really didn't want a big hotel, and didn't really want children around, although a few is OK - but i agree about the Kid's club thing. Wish someone could decide for us!

How about the best room at Hawksbill - the beach there is stunning, maybe not so many kids.
