My spouse rehabbed a post-surgery knee on Meads Bay. I like Rendezvous for walking (flat); Shoal Bay East is long and lovely, as well. All good (& a change of scenery is always nice).

Not as long as Rendezvous but lovely is Cove Bay. I sometimes walk Sandy Ground for a change of pace. There's always something/someone to see anytime of

day.

I don't "power walk" but do try to walk at a moderately fast pace and/or run, and I also prefer hard packed sand and longer stretches of beach. I stayed on Meads Bay when I visited in April, and I wanted to do my morning runs there, but at the beginning of my trip, I found the sand to be too mushy to feel comfortable running on it. Later on, it seemed firmer, and I did run there one morning. Based on the recommendation of a fit young man selling luxury villas, I also walked/ran at Cove Bay and Rendezvous Bay. Cove Bay was great for my morning runs because there were less people around, but RB is longer. Shoal Bay East was also nice for walking.

Off-topic (sorry for the hijack) but, Beach Bum -- Is it really true that Bananas has closed permanently? Too bad: nice place, nice owners, good food, lovely setting.

MaryGG, It's my understanding that it's closed permanently and the owners have left the island.

Back to power walking/running on the beach. We spend many days on Cove Bay and except for Saturdays when Smokey's has music we're usually the only folks on the beach. We are amazed because we're there from January through March and you would think there would be people since it's high season but it's highly unusual that we see anyone else. It's wonderful.

Savannah Bay/Junks Hole is worth a visit also.

I love Rendezvous Bay. We walk the entire length of the beach and back from Cuisinart at least 4 times a day. And who said we didn't "earn" those Red Stripes at the end of the day!!!!!

Shoal Bay East - if you just walk from Madeariman to the very end of Upper Shoal Bay and back, you're good. It's the only beach I've seen double rainbows on and a lovely woman I met during our Nov/Dec 2006 stay saw triples.I've walked Rendezvous and Meads but think SBE has a more interesting landscape. Plus, you can always take a dip and enjoy some really good shore snorkeling especially as you head towards Upper Shoal Bay.

Best wishes to you and your very lucky daughter for a wonderful holiday in AXA!!! It will exceed your expectations...
