We are planning a weekend trip to Santa Fe shortly, and being aware of the recent change in chefs, I thought I would check out recent reviews to see what folks think of Chef Rios' new menu. I was utterly flabbergasted to read repeated comments about haughty and overbearing staff. We have been long time patrons of Geronimo, and have... more
After visiting Geronimo, all I can say is "superb." The restaurant has become more consistent under its new management and new executive chef Martin Rios. As a local visiting this restaurant in the past, under Mr. Skoglund's reign, I and my party were usually snubbed and it is my belief that this attitude trickled down from the owner. I am... more
We thought the food was outstanding, the service and ambience good but not great. more
Dined here with four friends to celebrate an event. We were seated immediately at our reserved time. The room was cozy and pleasant and an open window freshened the air. The draperies were worn and in definite need of replacement. The table was well dressed and the chairs comfortable. We chose our meals and wine and continued to talk. Fresh... more
My wife and I have lived in the neighborhood for 20 years, but we quit going to Geronimo a long time ago after a series of bad nights: insufferable staff, nearly-hostile "welcomes," mangled orders corrected only grudgingly. But new ownership --- and a new and highly-regarded executive chef --- in spring of 2008 led us to give it another try... more
Geronimos is just a terrific restaurant. Every bite was a treat. The combination of flavors surprising and delightful. The service was outstanding. They even tweaked a dish for my five year old. I would not say that this is a family restaurant, though. If I did not know that my daughter would have outstanding behavior I would not have taken... more
I went to Santa Fe with some friends and based on recommendations here on TA and also friends, we went to Geronimos for dinner. It was just a bit too stuffy for me. Except for the fabulous waitress and the nice people sitting next to us, nothing was what I expected. From the main course to the dessert the staff... more
We went to Geronimo's based on recommendations from friends and it ended up being THE worst fine-dining experience ever! I made my 7 PM reservations months in advance, and specifically requested an indoor table since my husband and I were celebrating our anniversary. I confirmed the reservation TWICE, once the day before my reservation and also the day of the... more
Great food but don't go when they're crowded. Aisles are tight so there is a constant stream of waiters brushing by you. Especially avoid the back room which serves the kitchen and the restrooms! Save yourself the trip down Canyon Road and go to Amavi. The food is as good and the ambiance is outstanding. If you do go to... more
