In my time in Iowa I have had some very terrible food. Terrible. I was not optimistic when I returned, but have slowly had to admit there are some good options available -- like South Union. South Union is attached to Centro (which is another wonderful restaurant in Des Moines), but is only open for lunch serving soup and sandwiches.... more

Best place for a quick sandwhich in downtown Des Moines. Decent prices. The 1/2 sandwhich is enough for most people. I like the hot Italian sandwhich. more
