A nice hotel in a great location with spectacular views across Loch Awe. The Hotel is clean, the rooms are well maintained, the lodges are even better. We had a great view over the Loch The water is brown, but's the nature of the area, as the hotel is surrounded by peat. The Restaurant food is very good, I can... more

I will start by saying I think the 2 comments about the water and beds were by the same person by the sound of it and a person with a vendetta against this hotel !!. The water runs down a mountain and is fresh and drinkable. The colour is due to the peat and soil of the local area and... more

We were given a lovely 3 bedroomed lodge for 2 adults and 2 children, fully equipped with everything you could need for a few days and a sauna!! Not a great, but watchable tv reception, but hey who cares, not really there to watch tv. Booked table at restaurant, food was great, staff fine, no issues at all. Found that... more

When pulling upto the hotelit took my breathe away. I checked in was shown to my room which was not in the main hotel but in a building next door, the apartment was lovely with a brillant view over the loch, the room itself was clean and watm and had everything you need if you wanted to cook for yourselves.... more

OK where to start. The very first thing i notice was that there were no staff members present when we arrived at around 17:00. It took a good 10 minutes of wandering around the "Hotel and country club" to find someone. We were eventually processed by a Polish sounding lady who could barley understand what we were saying. We were... more

Pubic hairs in the bed and bath, dangerous electrical fittings, vacuous staff and appalling service. I would recommend that you don't stay at this hotel as it is probably the worst I've ever stayed in. We booked in for one night before setting out for four days canoeing on the Loch. On arrival we were given a room which was... more

My wife and I run a four star guest house on the Isle of Skye and as a special treat booked into this hotel so that we could attend the Hydro Connect Festival and have a special treat after a long hard summer. We were not looking for 5 star treatment just a quiet break with the basic comforts and... more

Pleasant & helpful staff, fairly priced resaurant meals, good wine selection. The view from our bedroom over the loch were breathtaking, well worth the £25 supplement ! Although the hotel is a 10 min drive from the main road , dont be put off, its very well worth it. We could not fault Portsanachan, well done to all the staff... more

The lodge we stayed in was a 2 bedroom for 6 people. While everything was there that was supposed to be (ie dishwasher, TV etc) there was no hot water at any time, even with the booster on, and no television reception. Perhaps one shouldn't assume from the presence of a TV that there will also be some ability to... more

Wonderful location on the banks of Loch Awe This hotel is listed as a part of the "Scotland's Personal Hotels" consortium but I think it lacks the personal touch. The facilities were generally good, but the service certainly was lacking, ranging from non english speaking to bizarre situations, with staff having a disagreement directly in front of staff. The food promised... more
