I stayed in a room with two double beds with three other friends: it was a budget vacation. But we enjoyed La Playa's location across the street from a decent beach that was very swimmable. The hotel itself was nothing to write home about, but it was clean, quiet, and had a nice bar where locals hung out and you... more

We stayed at the Hotel LaPlaya for 6 days in February and it had it's great points and it's not so great points. The rooms were a bit to be desired. outdated for sure, but nice view of the ocean. we had a front room which overlooked the parking lot and the street as well as the ocean. the downside?... more

No hot water until I complained twice. Water pressure is almost non existant. No clock, shampoo, or tissues. Very dated. Restaurant service very very slow. Nice location. more

Hotel La Playa has new owners and the entire hotel and restaurant have been renovated and upgraded in May and June 2008. We've added a new kitchen/bar/deck in the restaurant plus updated the menu with more healthy dining choices in addition to the famous hamburgers. The rooms have all be upgraded with new beds, flat-panel TVs, completely new bathrooms and...

If you're looking for a low budget place to stay by the airport but still have access to a great beach, Hotel la Playa is a good option. The rooms are boring but the bar downstairs is right on the ocean. You can drink your pina coladas on top of the waves and the bartenders are fabulous. It is however,... more

La playa's only positives are is location, right on the water only steps to the beach, and its price. Rooms are good sized but furnishings are dated and basic. They are not cleaned very well and the sevice in the resturant is poor. I would not stay there again. more

Hotel La Playa has new owners and has been completely renovated with upgraded rooms/amenities, new bathrooms, new beds, flat-panel TVs and new furnishings since this guest stayed at the hotel in December. The restaurant has been completely rebuilt and new menu items added to feature fresh, healthy, creative cuisine in addition to the famous burgers and steaks that made La...

There really is only one reason you would pick to stay here - the price. It's extremely reasonable for it's location (which you should note, is not "on the beach"....it is across the street from the beach) If all you're looking for is a place close to the beach that has a Pina Colada bar, and you plan on spending... more

Just a note to let anyone considering Hotel La Playa that we have completely renovated all of the bathrooms in the hotel since we took over as owners/managers of the hotel in Spring 2008. We've changed everything in the bathrooms - including the shower curtains..... but we still have some of the best Pina Coladas in Puerto Rico at our...

La Playa looks to be ideal, at the tip of a point in Isla Verde. Unfortunately, the property itself does not sit on beach, but on some rocks. At the same time, the distance to the beach is very short, so that is not really a problem. Getting there, though, requires going through the street, which is isolated and tends... more

We had a view of the ocean, it was great! The room was average, not fancy at all and the bathrooms needed to be updated. We thought a $100 for an ocean view was not bad at all and the resturant was fun. We would go down every night and watch the live music and listen to the ocean. The... more

My husband and I went to PR on our honeymoon in June. For the first six days we stayed in Northwestern PR, trusted TriAdvisor, and had the most romantic time imaginable. For the last three days we went to San Juan and followed Fodor's advice - big mistake! We stayed at Hotel La Playa and were horrified. We were placed... more

This room has been completely rebuilt since this review was posted and there is a completely new bathroom, bed, flat-panel TV, furniture and fixtures. This has become one of our most requested rooms - since it provides easy access and a semi-private patio area. We're sorry that this guest had a bad experience under the former owners - but can...
