I found it to be absolutely horrid. The room was so old and dingey; all the curtains were stained and dusty and the bed was really uncomfortable (you could feel the springs) and the quilt and blanket was also stained and dingey. There were hairs I kept finding in my bathroom that I know weren't mine; the room just had... more

I've stayed here several times before because the location was what I needed and the price was right. But now the owner of the restaurant on the first floor is managing the hotel and everything has come together as a pleasant surprise. Now there is always somone there to help with any questions or problems - well at least until... more

Well, I reserved the room a month or so before I had to be in philly to take a test on a saturday! Got there Friday and we eat downstairs, the burgers were AWESOME!!! Then we headed to the room to SLEEP bc I needed to be up early but i remember very clearly being like 2am and still being... more

Don't be wooed by the low price and good location; this place is a real dive. The first tipoff should have been when we were waiting to "check in" and the exterminator arrived. Not a good sign. The hotel reminded me of a poorly maintained off-campus apartment rented to college students. It had badly stained, warped ceiling tiles, blistering, peeling... more

Just what the doctor ordered. A cute B&B with Old World Eorpean charm right in the middle of everything (historic that is). This ain't the Four Seasons but it isn't $400 a might either. If you're visiting the hisotric sites or in town for some shopping this is a very convenient location for walking and real close to the subway... more

I wonder if society hill hotel has changed ownership since the other postings. My experience was just delightful. Close to everything in historic old city, and close any means of transportation to other neighborhoods. the room was just fine for a locally owned b&b, and kind of charming. the bar and resturant was a relaxed place to unwind after site... more

Great rates, very helpful staff, great bar and restaurant, and no more than a 2 minute walk to all the historic sites. What more does one need? The two hotels within half a block were $75 to $200 more per night. Sure the room might be a little bigger but I'd rather spend that on my dining out and entertainment.... more

Lots of history. European type hotel. Smallish rooms but very friendly staff. Great restaurant and bar. Walk to all historic sites. Least expensive rooms around by far. Will definitely stay again. more

The signs were all there... bad reviews, the mystery phone number... but when I arrived it became crystal clear that if any health inspector went to the Society Hill Hotel, it would surely be closed. The location is great, but that they charge as much as they do for accommodations that are worse than dodgy hostels is absolutely unbelievable. As... more

Sure, the room was TINY. We booked the smallest room they had...it was inexpensive, right in the heart of Old City, and it was only a weekend trip. I read reviews about mice, and how small it was, but booked it anyway. My boyfriend and I both thought it was cute...the ceilings were high, so it made it feel much... more
