The hotel Beacon was still being refurbished when we checked in on the 25th of August. Virgin informed me that the work was running behind schedule but would be completed by 31st of August - it wasn't and they still had floors 1 through 7 to complete. My husband and I went to NY with 6 friends and out of... more

We stayed for 4 nights at the Beacon Hotel in a 1 bedroom suite. It cost a little more but it included a kitchenette which we found handy. There was a great supermarket and handy food outlets accross the road. There were also several choices of basic restaurants around the area. We found the room to be clean, spacious and... more

The photograph's of this place on the net do not do it justice. We stayed on the 18th floor in a newly renovated room which was absolutely lovely. As first timers to New York we quickly found out that it was a great neighbourhood to be staying in. Close to 72nd st station, the park, museums and of course, close... more

I booked this hotel through www.booking.com.; and read reviews from others at TripAdvisor which cinched the selection for me. The front desk staff were warm and friendly and allowed me to check-in immediately, even though it was several hours before the stated check-in time. The concierges were helpful in steering me to the subway station and which trains to take... more

My mother and I go to NYC for the US Open every Labor Day weekend and for 4 of the last 5 years we've stayed at the Beacon Hotel and now it feels like our home away from home. We love staying in the Upper West Side, it has great stores, great diners and restaurants and the charm you'd expect... more

This hotel was in the best location, down the street from the subway, close to Central park and everything witin walking distance. I would recomend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in the city, but not pay the price! This hotel was a great price for what you get. The best part was the kitchenet. The morning staff... more

We stayed at the Beacon for 5 nights in July. We were so happy with our 23rd floor one-bedroom suite. The accommodations were clean, spacious (for 2 adults and 2 kids), newly renovated, and had a beautiful view of the NY skyline. We liked having 2 TVs, a fold-out couch for the kids, and a kitchen complete with dishes. Don’t... more

Arrived at the Hotel Beacon to a nicely presented lobby and a quick check in. Our room was on the 16th floor which had been refurbished (they started at the top of the hotel and are working down, it should be finished by the end of Aug) and was nicely presented with twin beds, kitchenette, bathroom, flat screen TV with... more

This is a nice hotel near everything. Subway is very near, and the foodmarket just on the other side of the road, Vaind cafe downstairs and many shops and banks near the hotel (Duane Read, Gap, The Body Shop, North Face, etc.) were a nice surprise. Rooms have certainly seen their better days, but they are quite big and convenient,... more

I had two separate stays in July at the Beacon--one for five nights, and one for three nights. Overall it was a very good experience although a little uneven. When I first entered my room on the eighth floor I was thrilled to see a two room suite with kitchenette, lots of closets and a nice bathroom. I had a... more
