This was our sixth time in NY, but our first time at the San Carlos. As we were four adults travelling, we took advantage of the third night free offer on suites at the San Carlos which gave us quite a saving over two separate rooms. The suite we had was great with a very large sitting room. The staff... more

A lovely hotel in a great location. I fell in love with the shower -- super-hot water and powerful shower head made me feel like I'd had a spa treatment every time I took a shower! The hotel was really pretty quiet, too. I didn't much care for the continental breakfast, as the pickings were slim and some of the... more

Stayed 5 nights here at end of May, could not fault the hotel in any way. After reading previous reviews on Tripadvisor we upgraded our room to an executive suite, which was well worth it. Some commented on the tiredness of the rooms but we have to disagree as ours was really nice. We were on 6th floor so could... more

My husband, daughter and I stayed at the San Carlos for 4 days, 3 nights. Got a deal on a 1 bedroom suite with sofabed. We paid for 2 nights and got 3rd night free. Hotel was attractive and staff was friendly. We stayed on the 3rd floor so we had a slight problem with outside noise at night. more

I've been to NYC many times but never stayed the night- read many reviews and San Carlos Hotel was the only one which had great reviews on TripAdvisor. Hotel lived up to every expectation! Clean room, large, we got a free upgrade to an executive suite. Staff was wonderful and humorous- they even advised me that the miny bar was... more

My husband and I spent 5 nights at the San Carlos and enjoyed our stay very much. The room was well-appointed and larger than most New York hotel rooms. The only thing lacking in the room was a comfortable chair. The bathroom was a good size and toiletries and terry bathrobes were provided. Everyone on the staff was helpful and... more

I stayed at the San Carlos Hotel for business in November 2007. I found the service exceptional, the room price high (it was over the holiday season), and the breakfast satisfactory. My room had a small kitchenette, which had I been traveling on vacation, perhaps I would have used, but being on a business trip, I only walked by in... more

The San Carlos is a great place to stay in New York - it's central, in a safe area and the room, though not huge, was pleasant and clean. You need to bear in mind you are staying in a city and your building is surrounded by other buildings- be reasonable, you are NOT going to get a view, are... more

What a pleasure it was to stay overnight at the San Carlos last week! I am in New York every other month or so, to visit famliy, and none of us had ever heard of the San Carlos before! I usually like to stay in midtown, and the location, at the intersection of 50th and Lexington ,is central to many... more

We've used a number of hotels in the New York area for business travel, most recently the Marriott East Side on Lexington Avenue. The San Carlos is just around the corner from the Marriott but light years ahead in terms of attitude and service. All in all, this was one of the best hotel experiences we've had in New York.... more
