We stayed at this hotel for our anniversary weekend. We are Kimpton members, and were upgraded to a corner jacuzzi room by the cheerful check-in clerk. Our room was spotless, and had a nice view of Petco Park. The wine service from 5-6 is a nice touch. We even took our glasses to our room while we got ready for... more

This is a nice, upscale hotel, but do not stay here if you want a good night sleep. The pool area and bar, located on the 4th floor, is surrounded by many rooms in the hotel. The pool area is a party area all day and night, until 1 am. It's a great place for 20 - 30 year olds... more

CONTEXT: Room rate for a single king was about $154 plus tax. First Kimpton hotel for us (normally Hilton/ Marriott people). GOOD: - Very cool stylish hotel with unique designs and great vibe. Mood lighting all around the hotel, fans in the halls, each floor has different mood, and the rooftop bar is very classy looking with fireplaces. - Staff... more

I lived in SD for 4 years and came back for a weekend getaway. In terms of location and aesthetics, this hotel was up to par with the other Kimpton hotels. It's very trendy, modern and bright. The decor is fabulous and the room itself was spacious and beautiful. It's centrally located so we were able to walk everywhere. We... more

On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and the Hotel was very modern and the rooms clean and comfy. Unfortunately I had a restless night as there was a continuous whining noise in the room, we saw reception the next day who offered to move us to another room on the same floor but checked the room before moving... more

My fiance and I stayed at the Hotel Solamar for 3 nights after winning it from a bid on priceline.com. We loved the modern, trendy decor and the upscale vibe. The staff was extremely friendly and we loved their wine hour in the evening. We would stay at Hotel Solamar in a heartbeat! more

The Solamar is a lovely space in a great area of Gaslamp, easy walking distance to just about everything. Inside it's elegant, comfortable, and beachy, exactly what we were hoping for on our SD vacation. Great room, friendly service, and the poolside rooftop bar is one of the hottest spots in town. more

The Hotel Solamar is a wonderful hotel near Petco Park and smack in the middle of the Gaslamp district. Perfect walking distance to the convention center. As other reviews have stated, it is quite noisy on Friday and Saturday nights, but the bar by the pool is great place to be on those nights! If you are planning on a... more

Like other Kimpton Hotels, this hotel has a unique, boutique feel to it with very cheery, helpful staff. I stayed here on a recent business trip without issue... until the Friday night, before my very early flight Saturday morning, I had a frustrating time getting sleep as I had to deal with the noise of the outside, pool-side bar. The... more

After reading some of the reviews, I was a little apprehensive about booking rooms here for my second stay at a Kimpton Hotel (1st: Hotel Palomar, WDC, Oct '08). Soooo glad I placed more faith in Kimpton's outstanding service than in a couple negative reviews. The whole experience was fantastic from the moment I pulled up. Yes, the valet parking... more
