We stayed on Crystal Pier the end of April for 3 nights. It was awesome from the moment we arrived. Growing up in San Diego and remembering the Pier, I was cautious, but pleasently surprised. It is very self contained and you can even borrow a BBQ for cooking out. My husband has motion sickness, so we stayed in the... more

We were very lucky to have Suite B, which is at the tip of the pier with unblocked views of the Pacific. Unparalled sunrises and sunsets were ours each of our 3 days. We particularly enjoyed watching the surfers from a birds eye view. We made use of our kitchenette, bringing in groceries from the Voss Supermarket right on Garnet... more

We heard it was very hard to get a room at this hotel, but we tried nevertheless - and got lucky. Very lucky in fact - when we showed up at the property, we got an upgrade from a one bedroom suite to a two bedroom cottage. We stayed for two nights and it was absolutely terrific, a spotless cottage... more

I've stayed at Crystal Pier a couple of times over the years. I lived in Pacific Beach (1978-1985) and always admired the cottages. I moved back east; when I decided to vacation in San Diego in 1991; I stayed at Crystal Pier. I vacationed in San Diego again in 1995 and 2000 staying at Crystal Pier each visit. I've always... more

We stayed here recently for the first time with a group of friends and found the place to be exactly as described and then some. Our unit, No. 11, was great except for the fact the electrical outlets in the bedroom did not work. Other than that everything was great and we loved the atmosphere most of all. We had... more

I had been told that these extremely popular cottages were almost impossible to reserve, but sometimes calling in the morning will snag a cancellation for that day. That's what we did. Our cottage was squeaky clean but small and old-style. WE LOVED IT. We were out in the middle of the pier over the Pacific Ocean, 25 feet above the... more

This was our second trip to the Crystal Pier Cottages, so needless to say we have mostly positive things to say about this hotel. We went in 2005 for our 25th wedding anniversary, just returned from celebrating our 27th there, plan to return, and constantly recommend it to our friends. We're in our mid-50's to give you an idea of... more

My mother-in-law used to stay at this property many years ago. The luster has obviously faded. While the physical property is interesting, this part of San Diego is a bit dumpy, unless you like homeless people sleeping all around you while you are on vacation at the beach. But the reall problem is the staff. To say they are below... more

You have to talk to an actual person to book here. So worth it. My mom, my 11 year daughter and myself stayed here for our spring break and had the best time. My mom was recovering from a serious illness and this was just what the Dr. ordered. The staff leaves you alone and lets you enjoy your holiday.... more

Gorgeous! Excellent location, beautiful rooms, close to all beach activities and shopping. If you've never tried it, you have really been missing out. Totally worth the price. more
