The San Remo is a small and friendly hotel. The room we stayed in was a bit small, but its was clean. The shared bathrooms are clean and there is plenty of them. The locations is close to Fishermans Wharf and the tram will take you downtown for shopping etc. more

We stayed at this hotel for two days over the 4th of July holiday. Very charming hotel. We had an interior room (we were told it had no window) which was very small. Our room did have a window though...it opened into the hallway. Very bright room because of skylights in the hall. Shared bathrooms were always available and clean.... more

I stayed at the San Remo for three nights. I doubt you could find better value in such a great location for Fisherman's Wharf, the Maritime State Park and ferries to Alcatraz. One block from one cable car turnaround, four blocks from another. I got one of their special deals on their website, stay two nights and get the third... more

Charming turn-of-the-century boarding house that is beautifully decorated, a pleasure just to wander around, admiring the posters and photgraphs on the walls. I grew up in the North Beach neighborhood in SF and returned for a couple of days on business. Was attracted by the low price and can easily navigate shared baths (these had pull-chain toilets, a bathtub with... more

The rooms at the San Remo are like tiny gems of quaint comfort in this charming Euro-style hotel. Emphasize the tiny: the rooms are very small and travellers sharing a room should like each other very much. Hotel guests seeking expansive luxury should keep looking--this isn't the hotel you visit when you want to be pampered. Instead, it's a hotel... more

Well we didn't know what to expect from the hotel. The website was good and told you enough but when we got there it was even better. It was so central, only a few blocks from fishermans wharf and you only had to walk a few blocks to get some good food and have some fun. The rooms were just... more

Sam Remo was a pleasant surprise. A *great* location and an excellent price. I can't wait to return. The room was small but comfortable, and really, in San Francisco you're really not going to be spending too much time in it. Next time though, I'd choose a room with a window (mine was an internal room, which was quite warm).... more

We booked a room in the San Remo with a shared bathroom, having traveled frequently in Europe. Although it's a no frills hotel, they do have the nice boutique touches that make it stand out from an el-cheapo motel. The halls, bathrooms and rooms are decorated with San Francisco art and maps, each in a unique frame. The furniture was... more

The San Remo Hotel is in one of the most centrally located areas in San Francisco for sightseeing and easy transportation (if not a little on the tourist - heavy side). Northbeach, one of the most visited Italian neighborhoods in SF, is close to Market Street, Chinatown, the Embarcadero, Financial Dist, etc. It is a European style hotel, which has... more

Been there in April, what I can say is, the location of San Remo is superb! It's very near to all the piers and fisherman wharf (walking distance), and it is also near to the city area (public transport). The room and bathroom condition is clean, and the room was cozy and has a sense of antique feeling for those... more
