Designed to celebrate California's lively culture, the Hotel Del Sol is a cheerful explosion of the West Coast spirit. Once a 50s-style motor lodge, it has been newly transformed to offer the stylings and personalized service of a boutique hotel. The spacious guestrooms evoke the bright and airy interior of a California beach house. Relaxing hammocks, a sparkling pool and towering palm trees in the courtyard is a colorful feast for the eyes. more » « less

Last August we stayed at the Hotel Del Sol, in the Cow Hollow district of San Francisco for 4 days. We have 3 boys and stayed in one of their suites. We loved this hotel. The living room had a pull out couch for the boys, a TV, refridgerator, and some chairs. There was a separate bedroom for us and... more

We stayed at the Hotel del Sol while in town for a four day vacation/family visit. Overall, the hotel is lovely. The rooms are average-sized and comfortable, the grounds are very nice and the staff are amazing - universally friendly and accommodating. In fact, they are probably the best hotel staff I have encountered in 30 years of traveling. The... more

We just spent the weekend at the Del Sol - we chose it because the location is great (Cow Hollow neighbourhood) and we'd stayed there before a few years back and were very pleased. The property isn't as nice as it used to be and they no longer offer Aveda products (which was one of my favorite things before). Sound... more

We chose the Hotel del Sol for our 5 day stay in San Francisco on the basis that the reviews indicated it might be fun for our two boys (9 and 17) , that it had a pool and because it had free parking. In fact Hotel de Sol is a motel rather than a hotel and the fact that... more

This was a clean, bright, festive hotel in a fantastic location, located more in a neighborhood than in a touristy or businesslike district. Our room had a comfy king-sized bed and a giant closet. The soaps and shampoos provided in the bathroom were wonderful. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the hotel had free parking, which is a... more

We stayed at the Hotel Del Sol at the end of July. We loved it! We had room 322, a standard room with 2 double beds. The 1950's motor lodge style hotel and the rooms are brightly colored, what I would call art-deco. There is a nice courtyard with a small pool. The pool was quite chilly for adults but... more

My mom and I stayed at Hotel Del Sol for a few nights while we were in San Francisco. The hotel was recommended to me and it didn't disappoint. The location was perfect - a few blocks from Union and Chestnut, walking distance to the ocean - and the ambiance was very refreshing. Small, basic rooms with bright colors and... more

We booked this hotel entirely due to the favourable reviews on this site. And while there were some nice things about it (I'll get to those), overall we were quite disappointed. The whole time I was there, I kept thinking, "I can't wait to write a review of this place on TripAdvisor." The main problem was the tiny, cramped rooms... more

My family stayed at the Hotel del Sol for four days in August 2007. We payed $209 for a "suite" which was supposedly a discounted price. Frankly, we were disappointed. This is very much a brightly painted noisy motel. The rooms were very small, the pool tiny and freezing, and the continental breakfast fair at best. I realize San Francisco... more

We booked this Hotel based on reviews and were not disappointed. When we arrived from the UK we discovered that our booking was for 2008, not 2007 (oops!), but the guy on reception didn't bat an eyelid. He put us in a 'spare' room (we were so tired after the flight we didn't really care where we went...) and then... more
