This was the 2nd time that I stayed at this hotel. The 1st time, it was absolutely fantastic! This last time, not so much! My disappointment started the second that we walked in the door and were greeted by a giant construction tarp that was covering the entire lobby. I booked my reservations on the hotel's website and there was... more

My best friend wanted to celebrate his birthday in Houston and stay at the Magnolia so I had no choice in what hotel to stay in. I wish I had gone with my instincts and stayed at another place. As soon as we got there, they took us to our "room" and it only had one bed. There were 4... more

My husband and I spent Memorial Day weekend at the Magnolia and can say nothing bad about our entire stay. We arrived Friday and were greeted by the valets to park our car. Now some might try to save money on the valet parking, but the convenience of having the car there was more than enough to overcome the additional... more

I stayed at the Magnolia for two nights during a weekend conference at the University of Houston, just south of downtown. This is third time I've stayed at the hotel in the last four years. I love it. It's in the middle of a surprisingly vibrant downtown scene, within easy walking to restaurants, Minute Maid Park, light rail, and the... more

Not a bad place to stay. The rooms were big, bathroom big, but showing its age. There was a refrigerator in the room, but stock with mini bar supplies at high prices. This hotels tries to be a high end hotel, but falls short. The exercise room was a good size, but the pool area was small, but it did... more

I visited this hotel for an overnight weekend away with two girlfriends. We visit Houston a few times a year to shop and go out, but typically stay at the JW Marriott on Westheimer. We decided to mix it up and try something different, so we chose the Magnolia Hotel. Upon arriving, we attempted to park in the parking garage... more

Decent for a business trip but wouldn’t pay for it myself. Clean and modern but the common areas (lobby and bar/breakfast area) were dark and unwelcoming. As were the people at the front desk...unfriendly, gruff and unwelcoming. The Concierge was a delight and VERY VERY helpful with directions and suggestion. The room was a little cramped, although my co-worker had... more

A little kindness goes a long way... Most of the employees at The Magnolia Houston were not very kind or hospitable. I had to remind the front desk employees that they were working in the Hospitality Industry. When I was checking in, the front desk associate made me feel as welcome as a cold sore. No hello. No smile. No... more

Design-wise, the Magnolia is sleek and modern, like a mid-priced W. The free-form metal staircase between the first and second floors is a bold design concept that makes a great first impression. There was a lovely library adjacent to the bar/breakfast area. And people really seemed to be enjoying the ample, down-home food at the complimentary breakfast buffet. But when... more

We were pleasantly surprised to find that the photos for this hotel actually looked like the hotel and possibly was even nicer. We were worried because this hotel was so much cheaper that hotels surrounding it. We paid $109/nt and were blown away. It's a smaller hotel, so if you're looking for grandiose lobbies, you won't get that here. But... more
