Four years ago myself and my family stayed at this hotel . . . and the fact that it's taken me four years to write a review says two things. Firstly I think before I put my name to anything (!!??!!) and secondly . . . I have never forgot my experience of staying at this hotel. I had heard... more

So long as you're not expecting the Hilton then you won't be disappointed with the Benleva. There are a few bad points but they're far outweighed by the good ones. Our room was basic and clean but definitely a bit shabby and the lack of a wardrobe was a bit of a pain. The bathroom though was slap-bang up to... more

The Benleva gets 4 stars out of 5, and rising. Stayed here for a night this summer, and felt like we scored. Loch Ness is simply a beautiful lake, marred only by the ridiculous Nessie exhibits just north of town. Everywhere else, including the drive up Western Scotland, is excellent. The Benleva is a perfect stop- affordable, clean, pub and... more

Have just spent a night at the Benleva. I took the risk despite the poor reviews and to be honest I wish I hadn't. I know they may be doing it up as they can afford but simple inexpensive things could be done to make this a more pleasant experience. Our room had a broken toilet seat, broken toilet roll... more

We didn't stay here but we did eat here - and I can say without a doubt it was the best meal of our 10 week, round the world trip! The bar and restaurant areas were impeccably clean and well presented so I'd imagine the rooms are kept in a similar way. This was just what we had imagined a... more

I cannot recommend the Benleva highly enough! While planning my Highland vacation, I originally thought I might stay in nearby Inverness, but when I discovered the Benleva’s website, I knew it was the perfect hotel for me and revised my trip accordingly. When I emailed to enquire about availability, I was pleasantly surprised that the owners responded personally. That was... more

The owners truly know the meaning of hospitality. They are upgrading the facility as fast as they can afford to and have a great business going with their pub and dining room. Give them a year or two to bring the guest rooms up to date. more

Steve and Alan are great guys. These are the brothers who own the hotel and they are so laid back and helpful if you ask. They let us use their washer/dryer one evening free of cost - we just brought our own soap. Also, a couple in our group had their luggage lost, and the guys let them use the... more

i recently stayed at the benleva and found it to be a bit grubby. The first thing i noticed was the strong fishy smell coming from the large industrial garbage cans on the side of what would have been a pleasant tree lined drive way. Entering i noticed it to be quite dark inside and went up to the unmanned... more

Having read about the Hanging Tree on the website I'd expected it to be a bit spooky and I wasn't disappointed, the rooms are very dark and the deathly silent (apart from a ticking clock) hallway and corridors remind me of a haunted mansion. The rooms are very basic, but clean and tidy, which is something that could be said... more
