This is a good choice for downtown Portland. Although the building was built in 1912, the rooms are up-to-date and very clean. Typical Embassy Suites style with breakfast and evening reception. The breakfast/reception area is two levels below the lobby and, as others have reported, is not historic but rather dreary. Staff is reasonably friendly and competent although sometimes in... more

Pretty good for value. We paid a little over $200/night w/ a coupon/some online special. Included breakfast and parking (which can be almost $40/night) so it was worth it. Loved the historical hotel and inside was brand new and nice. 2 rooms, so the kids stay in the living room pull out couch, w/ TV. Breakfast was huge and all... more

Spent 1 night in the Downtown Portland Embassy Suites and found the whole experience to be of typical Hilton quality. The room was quite clean and comfortable - all furnishings in the bedroom (very comfortable bed) and sitting room look to have been updated quite recently and the bathroom was recently remodeled. The lobby/reception area is a grand old hotel... more

We recently stayed for 4 nights in a suite with one kingsized bed and a sofa bed. The kingsized bed was comfortable, but the sofa bed was not at all comfortable. The room was clean and quiet. The hot breakfast was excellent and well done, with omelets made to order and plenty of seating. The location of the hotel was... more

Our family stayed for 5 nights in July and had a great experience. The kids loved the free snacks and drinks in the evening, the game room and the pool. We liked all that too and the free breakfast every AM. It is a beautiful hotel and the rooms are well appointed. Staff is friendly and hepful. Close to public... more

We stayed here for 4 nights with our kids who are 5 and 3. We loved it. There is a great pool for the kids. Also a game room. You can not beat the free managers recepetion and great breakfast in the morning. We did valet parking so anytime you wanted your car it was right out front with a... more

We stayed here for 4 nights and everything was wonderful. The hotel is a beautifully restored older hotel and everything is thoroughly renovated and clean. Service was seamless, staff was helpful. We used the hotel's shuttle a number of times to get to different places and they were very accommodating. The beds were comfortable. No complaints. more

This was our second stay at the downtown Portland Embassy Suites. Neither time were we disappointed, but this visit, they outdid themselves. This is not your normal Embassy Suites. It is a beautifully restored grand hotel (where presidents and Elvis stayed in its heyday) and the rooms are large. Try to upgrade to a corner suite it at all possible.... more

I love this hotel, it's the 2nd time I've stayed here and found it just as gracious and elegant as the 1st time. The rooms are spacious, but not the standard Embassy Suites fare. The hotel is a historic hotel in downtown Portland that's been converted to an ES. The lobby is beautiful, there's a great indoor pool, the breakfast/cocktail... more

We booked a two bedroom suite for a weekend night in June. We were traveling with a handcapped person and requested the 1st floor and the closest room to the elevator. Instead we where place on the 2nd floor and the farthest room from the elevator. The rooms where dark with poor lighting and shared a wall with the airconditioning... more
