We've just completed a seven night stay at the Alvear Palace Hotel, Buenos Aires. This hotel needs some realistic comments since everything we read before booking indicated that it was among the finest hotels in the world. It is so far removed from that, it's pathetic. While the staff are very nice, the hotel in total is more show than... more

We spent the first 5 nights of our trip through Argentina here. While staff were professional, there was not a single employee who was friendly. Everyone seemed very put out by questions or even our merely showing up although we were always well- attired and speak Spanish with local fluency. The hostess at the restaurant even once wagged her finger... more

We stayed at the Alvear Palace for 3 nights in February. The hotel had a driver meet us at the airport, and he gave us a quick orientation to the city as he drove to the hotel. We waited about 45 minutes for our room to be finished, but the desk had us taken to the bar and provided us... more

This was my first trip to Buenos Aires. I knew that after 24 hours travelling I would need a place to pamper my soul and bones. I can't imagine a better place for such an undertaking than the Alvear Palace. The staff is attentive but never obtrusive, every corner spic and span, the breakfast buffet rich and of excellent quality.... more

I am 75 years old and have travelled the world as an oil executive and stayed in many first class hotels. The Alvear Palace is at least as good as the very best. The service from the numerous staff was friendly, prompt and helpful. I cannot but give it the highest recommendation. BAC more

The hotel is an old-style grand hotel, well kept up and overstaffed (I suspect in part for security) We had a junior suite on the courtyard - no noise at all. The decor is classic French. The batroom was small but excellent - jacuzzi, sperate shower, bidet etc, Hermes toilitries etc. The staff was extremely helpful. The breakfast buffet was... more

Just returned from South America. I don't need to add much to the positive reviews about the Alvear Palace Hotel. Our room was large and beautiful (faced the main street on the 4th floor). The bathroom was very large too. The hotel staff was very helpful and nice. The location was perfect. The decor was not to my personal taste... more

I stayed at Alvear Palace with my wife in September for 5 days. We had a wonderful visit. The hotel was beautiful and the staff extremetly helpful. We had a very large room with a shower and a spa tub. We were on a low floor but heard little noise. The room was very comfotable and luxurious. I wasn't sure... more

We spent 5 days at the Alvear Palace over Christmas and had a fantastic time. We had a marvellous double deluxe junior suite, with 3 televisions, acres of wardrobe space, butler service and free internet access. All the essentials! The staff at the Alvear are very well trained and professional. Nothing was too much trouble. The buffet breakfast was outstanding... more

We stayed at the Alvear Palace for our first three nights in Buenos Aires (followed by 3 nights at the Fours Seasons and 1 night at the Caesar Park, reviews to be posted). The Alvear is an elegant old world hotel. We were upgraded from a Jr. Suite to a Deluxe Suite which was amazing. (Our rate was $520 US... more
